Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the only one that actually died of the mysterious disease was the wheezing kid that started the zombie attacks in D block. :-k

Hal-9000
10-30-2013, 04:46 PM
you may be right...I can't recall who died of the flu and who died because of having the flu...

they sure dug a lot of graves :-k

Teh One Who Knocks
10-30-2013, 04:47 PM
I think most of those graves were for the people that got zombified or killed before getting zombified.

I thought Isaac Hayes was a goner near the end....looks like he's ok

Teh One Who Knocks
10-30-2013, 04:50 PM
I thought the same thing, I thought when he got surrounded that he was gonna be done. Although, he still may have gotten bitten, all we saw was him emerge thru the trees and the zombies and make it over to the group, we never did see any good close-up of him at the end.

Hal-9000

If I was bitten I would get the best flesh colored band aid ever and keep quiet

Griffin
11-04-2013, 03:14 AM
I couldn't help but notice at the end as they were driving down the country roads, that the the ditches and fields were better kempt than the road.

Griffin
11-04-2013, 03:19 AM
...also the subdivision that Rick/Carol parked in was the same one that Shane/Andrea stopped when Shane was teaching Andrea how to shoot.
It was the same house at the end of the street.

Teh One Who Knocks
11-04-2013, 11:35 AM
Well, I have to say that I didn't see that coming :-k

DemonGeminiX
11-04-2013, 12:48 PM
Rick kicking Carol out?

Teh One Who Knocks
11-04-2013, 12:51 PM
Yeah, I didn't expect that at all.

DemonGeminiX
11-04-2013, 12:53 PM
What did you think was gonna happen?

:-k

Teh One Who Knocks
11-04-2013, 12:56 PM
I figured they would deal with it back at the prison...for someone (Rick) who didn't wanna be involved in making major decisions anymore, and then lectured Carol about the decision to burn those two people not being hers to make, he sure decided a big decision (leaving Carol behind) on his own.

DemonGeminiX
11-04-2013, 01:00 PM
I think maybe he's getting ready to grab the reigns again.

For some odd reason, I thought what Rick mentioned would probably happen would actually happen... or maybe I wanted to see it happen:

Tyrese killing her.

Teh One Who Knocks
11-04-2013, 01:06 PM
Yeah, I guess maybe that was one reason that Rick didn't want to bring Carol back, because once Tyrese found out, Rick was right on when he said that he would kill Carol.

DemonGeminiX
11-04-2013, 01:12 PM
Rick's gonna have to tell them why she didn't come back and why he kicked her out... Tyrese could go looking for her.

Teh One Who Knocks
11-04-2013, 01:14 PM
That, or Tyrese could decide to try and kick Rick's ass again for not letting him at her. He specifically told Rick that if he found out who it was, Tyrese wanted that person brought right to him.

And I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Carol...at least I don't think we have.

DemonGeminiX
11-04-2013, 01:19 PM
Yeah.

In other news, that little drunk moron is gonna end up getting somebody killed. I was screaming at Daryl to throw him off the roof.

Teh One Who Knocks
11-04-2013, 01:20 PM
Yeah, I really thought he was trying to save some medication the way he was fighting for that pack...then when they found out it was booze, Daryl should have just pushed him into the zombies horde below.

Hal-9000

Teh One Who Knocks

Not sure how Rick thinks he can just arbitrarily tell Carol to go live in the wild....the group should make the decision

Exactly like I was saying 1 page back...Rick lectures Carol about killing the 2 infected people wasn't her call to make by herself....then Rick arbitrarily decided by himself to jettison Carol off on her own.

Doesn't seem like Herschel or Maggie have a problem with it.

Teh One Who Knocks
11-11-2013, 02:50 PM
With the giant herd of walkers breaching the fences and the revelation that the governor is outside the prison, I am definitely leaning towards there being a mole inside the prison working for the governor and that's the one that was feeding the zombies.

Hal-9000
11-11-2013, 03:22 PM

I don't think so, although I think they might have been getting close. So that's one big reason I don't think Daryl will be onboard with Team Rick about the decision to exile Carol.

So do you think that by bonding with the family that the Governor has officially left Crazy Town and come back to reality? I'm thinking yes and that the reason he was outside the prison now was that he was leading his adopted family there. At least the little girl, when they were running from the walkers I kind of didn't see the 2 women anywhere around at the end.

He sends a pretty strong message...you have to make decisions to survive and in doing that, you can't be a good guy

loved when he spotted Michonne

Teh One Who Knocks
11-25-2013, 03:06 PM
I don't understand one thing though...when he was up on top of the RV with Martinez and he (Martinez) tells the Governor that maybe they can 'share the crown', that's when the Governor flipped out. And the whole time he was killing Martinez he kept saying "I don't want it".

Don't want what? To be partially in charge? To be in charge at all? Something else?

Hal-9000
11-25-2013, 03:08 PM
I thought it was exactly that...to be in charge again. He won't tell anyone about Woodbury and the good things they had there...

yet he still assumed the partial mantle of responsibility anyways with the Fringe-guy :-k

Teh One Who Knocks
11-25-2013, 03:09 PM
That's what I thought too, but by the end of the episode he was happily in charge again and looking for a new place....and that brought him to the prison.

Hal-9000
11-25-2013, 03:14 PM
I think he realizes that people need help to stay alive but he doesn't want to be in charge of the group. They will be going after the prison for sure

Teh One Who Knocks
11-25-2013, 03:19 PM
See, I think the opposite...I think he wants to be back in charge, he was just in full out denial when he had his new makeshift family. Then he just 'snapped back' after killing Martinez and then killing the new guy in charge before taking on Fringe-guy as his new henchman.

And I too think he wants to try and take the prison again, but I dunno how he thinks he can do that since he tried two other times (with much more fire power) and failed both times.

She was sure brave when she was explaining her rationale behind doing it when she was with Rick. Now it shows her to be a coward.

Assuming Glenn gets back to the group with Tara, how are they going to treat her?

Not much action tonight.
There have been hints in every season that Glenn should be leader. However tonight, (even though he hasn't realized it yet) he became that with a small group.
I don't think he will give up that title easily after having it.

DemonGeminiX

Nah, Glenn's not thinking of the group right now. His motivations are purely selfish. I'm not saying he couldn't lead, I'm just saying he's not doing it right now.

Sometimes I think Glenn has reservations about making decisions within a large group. I think he's better as a second in command.

When it became apparent that Lizzie was totally aboard the bus to crazy town, me and the g/f both agreed that she had to be killed, and then when it got to the point that she killed her sister and said that she was about to kill Judith, we both knew they were going to kill her. There was no way you could keep her around, you couldn't be safe with that psychopath around ever.

I screened a pic of the younger daughter when they first approached the farm (when she said that Mom told her things always worked out). I was going to mention crazy comes in all forms, good and bad

that whole episode was getting dangerously close to cutesy territory but then redeemed itself wonderfully with Lizzie killing her sister and then Carol admitting her secret

Teh One Who Knocks
03-17-2014, 04:07 PM
I don't think it was cutesy per se, but I think it was done very well.

I'm guessing Tyrese took the news from Carol so well because after he saw Carol take Lizzie out and do what had to be done, Tyrese realized that it wasn't something that he would have been able to do, and that when Carol killed Karen and David, she was making that "hard decision" and thought that what she was doing was right, in her mind anyway, and it was for the greater good. And that's what killing Lizzie was, for the greater good, because there was no way that Lizzie could have ever been trusted again around living people. She was going to kill the baby FFS.

One thing I love about this series is the feeling of quiet they portray in the world through cinematography and sound. When they go into a house or building, the air almost seems still..

other zombie shows never achieve this tactile sensation of a place being used up, or dead...

I think Tyrese weighed it out in his mind for a moment, then decided that he needed Carol for future...or like you mentioned, he needed someone to kill Lizzie

I really admire the writers for that episode last night, it was daring and edgy. Not too many shows would kill off two main characters that are both under 15...especially doing it that way.

She said, "Let's get you settled and we'll make you a plate."

Double meaning? It does kinda feel like they're trying to set up The Hunters, although the Hunters weren't settled in one place.

And now that I'm thinking about it, Maggie and Glenn burning that picture of Maggie sleeping and her saying "You'll never need that picture again" seems like foreshadowing.

I think I was more disappointed last week when Glen and Maggie and company all just walked into Terminus without having their guard up at all. After everything they have been thru, I would have thought they would have been more cautious. Plus the distinct lack of people anywhere would have made me put my guard up as well.

Now at least Rick's group was more cautious when they went into Terminus on the finale, but it didn't do them much good after all. I think I would have staked the place out first before just going right in.

Pretty good analysis on the finale:

'Walking Dead': Revisiting the Final Scene
by Tim Goodman - The Hollywood Reporter

http://i.imgur.com/86lpBWA.jpg

As someone who hasn't read the Walking Dead comic books -- just as I haven’t read George R.R. Martin’s books that form the basis for Game of Thrones -- I take in all the information simply as it’s doled out, without being privy to older nonshow references or working with the knowledge of what’s ahead.

But I didn’t want the finale and the group’s trek to Terminus and what that foreshadowed to slip away (the onslaught of Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Fargo and others is near) before revisiting it. When first introduced to Terminus -- at the end of a journey the season was leading viewers along -- I got the distinct feeling (as others did, or at least should have), that Terminus is no sanctuary. Rather, hints abounded that a modern-day Soylent Green story was unfolding.

And though it’s pretty clear there’s cannibalism going on at Terminus, the producers are being coy about it.

In the episode where Glenn and Maggie, etc., walked into the welcoming arms of Terminus, red flags were everywhere. The people at Terminus had an awful lot of meat, first of all. The grill -- with its willing grill-master -- was always framed prominently and was the first stop to gaining interior access to Terminus. Just by positioning it right there in the open, out front, the Walking Dead brain trust was making the grill and all that might conjure, a significant visual element. Then it was, "Hey, grab a plate, have yourself a meal. You’re welcome here." But was that meat from unseen calves or pigs -- or was that Beth, or others?

Of course Terminus seemed pretty desolate for a major destination meet-up for wandering survivors. The “Those Who Arrive Survive” signage would certainly indicate more people should be hanging around -- unless those people are surviving in spirit, as sustenance. And the Terminus explanation of why in the hell anyone would be so generous, letting in hordes of freeloaders -- “the more people become part of us, we get stronger” was certainly a big hint.

With a plethora of clues turning up, the one that probably sealed it was the quick shot (but not too quick) of what looked like the stripped carcasses of humans (and later an altar room to remember them for their sacrifice).

I’m fine with the cannibal notion -- it’s not revolutionary for the zombie genre and all through the series I've been wondering when the hungry hordes of survivors would finally go Hannibal on the weaker of their number. In the finale, so much portent about hunger and trapping was afoot. But I don’t think it was overkill -- the writers rather adeptly handled the storyline of Rick showing Carl how to trap a rabbit with the Terminus parallel hanging over it like a noose. Our group of plucky core members were being led, just like the rabbit, down a chute to their own demise.

Whereas my most nagging thought after the finale was how the hell Rick and company would get out of the cattle car and overtake a larger group of vastly better-armed adversaries, the actual scene that stuck in my head was the last five minutes of herding.

That was impressively done -- and made up for the literal last shot of Rick announcing revenge in an all-too-pat blockbuster movie kind of way.

In the scene, as the snipers are shooting at the feet of Rick and Daryl, etc., my initial reaction was a slight groan about the poor marksmanship so prevalent on TV and in movies -- but it then becomes clear that the shooters are missing on purpose. They're not trying to kill, they're trying to herd. It was the start of something that became really something to behold, not only for the execution itself but for the level of detail and research that went into it.

Alternatively shot from above -- emphasizing power and giving viewers a long shot of the railroad/cattle car at the top of the frame and the futility of Rick, Daryl, Michonne and Carl in the foreground -- we then got the crowning elements. Gareth, the leader of Terminus, is going to walk them to slaughter (though it’s important to remember this is all implied -- the finale made no hard nod toward cannibalism). Still, the scene all but seals it. If you research how cattle are killed, the optimum approach is to have them take a series of corner turns before getting close -- if they see they’re being led to slaughter, chaos ensues. The camera follows Rick and company in a circular route through Terminus until they get out into the clearing.

Cattle are also, as they near slaughter, guided in single file -- something Gareth did meticulously with each character, leading them to the railroad/cattle car in the short distance. There is also a “correct handler position for driving cattle” -- and director Michelle MacLaren set up the final scene by positioning Gareth in a perfect, textbook handler position.

She also created maximum tension by showing the distance between Carl, the last of the group to be herded toward the rail car, and Rick. The panic that arose on Rick’s face as Gareth forced him to be first while keeping Carl behind in a vulnerable position, was captured superbly by MacLaren. Proper handling procedures also indicate that calves go last (or, if you will, parents go first -- reversing it causes panic and a chance the cattle will disperse). And lastly, what the scene captured in a kind of haunting by-the-book approach, is that cattle go forward in a single-file line but shouldn’t actually see livestock in front of them -- which is why Glenn and Maggie and the others were shunted to the rear of the car.

All of that was both chillingly calculated and beautifully constructed (and the powdered milk containers -- clearly being used to fatten everybody up -- were a nice touch). I may have wished for a more dramatic cliff-hanger (a shoot-out, or perhaps reinforcements to use those guns Rick buried), but I did, especially on further inspection, appreciate the artistry in the construction of that finale scene.

Now all that’s left to find out when season five begins is who gets slaughtered -- or maybe who already has been slaughtered (and grilled).

I agree with the write up above, most of it was obvious to me before reading. The title of the episode was 'A' and they were led into the train car designated A.

One of two reasons - A LISTERS, meaning they could be keepers and become part of the Terminus population, or GRADE A, a designation for prime beef for cooking

I was underwhelmed by the episode overall and saw Terminus as a ghost town, which didn't ring true with me. What I did like is we don't know the fate of Carol and Tyrese and Judith, plus Glen, Maggie and company.

I often think on some shows that contracts run out, people get other offers and that determines how the next season is written... along with the overall story arc the writers have in mind. Part of me does hope that some of the main characters get eaten...especially Judith the baby, because that would make Rick madder than snot and also get rid of the hindrance a baby would cause living in that world

I think the flashbacks were sparse for a reason...really only showing the rape that chick was talking about (Denise Crosby).

We don't know how much time had passed since the original Terminus group started there vs the current management :-k

I believe we'll see some other flashbacks showing the transition there...

Alrighty, my observation....I may have missed it but I didn't hear one person acknowledge the fact the Terminus group was cannibals or any reference to eating people.

At one point you'd think someone in Rick's group would say - Holy fuck, they are eating PEOPLES!!!!

Hal-9000

and here's another observation/guess...

Remember last season I said that the final episode and car was named "A", and was trying to determine what that referenced?

I thought it either meant - A, as in A-list people who would join the group to help survive or....A as in grade A beef. I think it meant the latter

I dont know if they knew yet
They make a reference to bleeding people out, and you see them doing that (like you would a pig)
Then you also see the kitchen area where you can see they have been "processing" people

The bat 'n slice area in front of the trough would have tipped me off  I would have thought - how come they just don't kill us after tying us up?

Yeah maybe they don't really understand about the butcher plant operations going on....that first scene with Denise Crosby last year in front of the giant BBQ gave me the chills

You cant quote yourself and give yourself props.

They made the comment to be the butcher or the cattler, Im guessing they took it to the next level as the food began running out.

I can too :hand:

Yeah, it's one thing to say something like that, and it's absolutely another to take it literally and decide to eat all newcomers. You can be the 'butcher' and just kill them all without eating them FFS

Just had that discussion with a coworker...I said the same thing. His point - propane was escaping from a large tank and the firecracker only had to get close. I conceded because he loves The Walking Dead more than his children

Yeah, but the propane disperses pretty quickly, so that firework would still have needed to be pretty accurate to get right into the spray area from the hole in the tank. Like Porky said, it would have been much more believable for her to just shoot at the tank again and have a bullet cause a spark.

Will there be more flashbacks? Not sure how Terminus will figure into the story still since it's destroyed, overrun with walkers, and nearly all the people there were killed. :-k

I know the damned train car was labeled A....all I am wondering is what the A refers to or the meaning!!!

They killed some D people and were working on the A people next....bad guys mentioned it when Rick and the dudes were still tied up..

There were multiple train cars, I assume it just means that they were put in an empty one that happened to be car 'A'. When they were at the kill trough in the premiere, Gareth walked in and said something like "we have 4 from A and 4 from D"

One minor thing....Rick was all hell bent to go back in there and kill every last one of those Terminus survivors. Then, next scene he's like - Ok, let's roll.

seemed a quick change of opinion for the Rickster

I think he just acquiesced and went with the group consensus that it wasn't worth the risk to go back and try and make sure they were all dead

I have to say I'm very impressed overall with the premier. Other shows pussyfoot and dance around plot lines for weeks...

The Walking Dead hits the ground running with the excellent tied up at the trough scene and continues until Terminus is on fire

I'd like to think that shows like Breaking Bad helped...when they had something on the go, it played out naturally and if folks died, that was part of the story

Game of Thrones could go on for weeks and then BAM....peoples died there too

I still think it was some sort of category or rating system with the train cars...

maybe A meant really capable people, as in badasses and they had to give them special considerations?

I did love the montage of everyone in that car making weapons out of zippers, buttons etc

He's hiding something....that message carved on the outside of the church. I'm guessing that there were people showing up looking for refuge and he locked them all out and left them for the zombies to eat? More to it than just that I'm sure, but I think that's the tip of the iceberg.

regarding the TV SHOW.......

so let me get this straight.....we have Rick's group, the Terminus group, the preacher and a mystery group watching from the shadows. Mystery group possibly headed by that Morgan guy they showed on the preview? (Morgan was the black dude a couple of seasons back they left in some town?)
