Last night's episode...

So you think he slipped him the razor?

Going out on a limb here. Something about that guy Saul(sp ?) is bugging me. Can't quite put my finger on it, but he's suspicious to me.

Awesome show, I watched 6 episodes yesterday...

Saul failed the first lie detector test and speaks Arabic - guilty! (could have been a red herring thrown at us....)

Season 2 will be great if they can pull it off.I can't comment any further because a new ep aired last night and I haven't seen it yet....

Haven't seen last night's episode yet, so this is my speculation up to the episode before that...

Saul failed the first lie detector test like Hal said and then he was cool and collected and passed the 2nd test. Then Brody proved he could lie and still pass the polygraph...his line never moved during any of his questioning.

Still no idea who gave him the razor and that's awesome. Writing for this show is phenomenal.

Acquiring the most recent ep now...

I don't know, I'm still leaning toward Brody slipping the razor blade to him. That Saul thing with the lie detector was suspicious though...

To what end though? Was he afraid that he would tell the CIA that Brody was actually working with his captors and they had broken him? :-k

I think Saul is a red herring just for the audience. They keep saying he's no good at the tests.Maybe just to generate paranoia into the mix.

I think Brody from episode one is guilty and is what Kerri/Kerry/Kari thinks he is.Not because of the finger tapping etc....just the fact he lived 8 years in the torture bunker and the part about them getting the intel to find the place 'all of a sudden', when the main bad guy usually is more careful than that.

It's sad that Brody may have been turned, but he has too many guilty 'tells' not to be hiding something.

Yep. Something Brody said to him before they fought could have been taken as a warning to keep his mouth shut too. I don't recall the words he used though.

Yea, Especially with the flashbacks of him beating his buddy to death and now the fooling the lie detector...

Teh One Who Knocks
11-14-2011, 11:35 PM
But would they make Saul that much of an obvious red herring? Seems way too in your face

That's why I love this show, the story and the writing and the acting are all top notch

Pony
11-14-2011, 11:39 PM
Saul does have lots of time spent in the field overseas but didn't the info from the prisoner say "an American POW has been turned?" Unless Saul was a POW and we don't know about it yet... Or possibly he's a second traitor.

Hal-9000
11-14-2011, 11:40 PM
How about this?

The whole season one is gonna suck big bag if Brody wasn't guilty of something

I like the little touches...first scene of Kari on the move and she hits the bathroom, wipes her crotch with the rag and then hits the road again.Realism +1 !!!

11-14-2011, 11:43 PM
Perhaps the opening credits of Danes and Lewis in the hedge maze tell the story.....they'll be after Brody for quite a while, maybe the life of the show?

Get some nugget of evidence, then pull back, get some evidence....rinse, repeat?

No matter what he's up to, you gotta feel sorry for Brody's character.Just with the first 5 shows and the limited torture scenes they've showed, it's been brutal :|

I was about to give up with the new plotline about his buddy the sniper being the converted one. When Brody roughed up that guy and said that he was pissed at Abu-nazir or whatever his name is.....that gave me a nice moment of wtf.

He's Muslim, goes to church most nights. He's part of the (I can't spell this) Esmilie ? religion.Real hardcore and old school with fasting and things...

He's probably the most gentle man I've ever met but to be honest, I've thought about what happens in his personal life.Shows like Homeland kinda create that sense of paranoia I guess.

It makes more sense now...Walker must have got the video camera memory card.

I sure liked that scene with him and Brody in the tunnel with Abu Nazir on the phone.Seems to be no love lost between the two marines (strange...).
I also liked the final scene where Carries remembers Brody calling out the child's name in his sleep...right before she gets shock treatment.

Teh One Who Knocks

Well remember, Nazir did have Brody beating the shit out of Walker when they were captured. In fact, Nazir had Brody believing that he had killed Walker from brutally beating him.

So....what did Carrie find when she went back through that door after Nazir? :-k

And damn the guy who plays Brody is an amazing actor....that whole scene(s) at the Naval Observatory with the VP was just awesome. Going from all nervous and worried to being all cold and vindictive. Just some awesome acting right there and an amazing scene.

If I had to make a guess, Brody is gonna die this season.

They really promote his and Claire Danes' characters in advertising and credits for the show. I hope he sticks around and becomes a triple agent of something..

Teh One Who Knocks
12-06-2012, 07:54 PM
It seems like Estes really wants him dead (I assume to cover-up the drone attack that killed Nazir's kid)...and once he finds out that Brody was with the VP when he died, I think that will just inflame it and he will give Quinn the order to take Brody out.

Hal-9000
12-06-2012, 08:04 PM
Yeah linking Estes and the VP to the drone attack adds a great dimension...

I understand torture and psychological manipulation but I do get tired of hearing Brody going on about little Isa....it wasn't his kid ffs :|

Teh One Who Knocks
12-06-2012, 08:12 PM

Hal-9000
12-10-2012, 07:23 PM
Dana was a total twat again last night....I'd put her up for adoption.

Speaking about how good the actors are.....last night Brody was sitting in his truck with his wife looking at his house and then he said - I can't go in....the look in his eyes was incredible, like he was in shock.

And of course Carrie running around all googly-eyed after Abu Nazir let her go was classic obsession

Teh One Who Knocks
12-10-2012, 07:26 PM
As much as I hate Dana, the actress that plays her does a fantastic job.

I don't think Brody is involved...as soon as his old video was released on TV, that destroyed any chance of him lying about it or defending himself.

1. I don't believe that hired cleaners for the CIA would have that great of shift in conscience

2. And I don't believe that they would threaten the deputy director of the CIA and then just walk away

Maybe Quinn is one of those moralistic guys...his character is 9000 times more interesting now in any case.

It seemed weird that they made the point of showing him praying out in the woods (when Quinn had the chance to take him out) and that he went and made 'peace' with Mike when it came to his (Brody's) family....just seemed like things he was doing to get his life "in order".

But then, when they were listening to Estes at Langley, it was Carrie, not Brody that made the glance for them to leave the assembly. I think that if Brody loves Carrie (and I believe he does) and he knew a bomb was going to go off killing that many people, that he never would have put Carrie in harms way like that.

And once they link Brody's vehicle to the bombing, how guilty do you think Quinn will feel knowing he could have eliminated Brody earlier?

Good points...if he knew about it Carrie wouldn't have been sitting there and he wouldn't have acted so surprised about his truck being moved...

Quinn making the decision not to kill Brody was odd...he has to have a pretty good set of morals to reason all of that out and indicate that Carrie would be affected by Brody's death too. Maybe he simply saw Estes for what he really was...not sure yet.

I watch Strike Back and it features two black ops guys who travel the world and take on bad guys, often by the seat of their pants

I read about some real ops guys and how it usually plays out....they'll plan a mission for days or weeks, then something will change and they have to go in with just a handgun, no backup and their window is something like under 15 minutes...

I wonder how bad killing that kid will affect Quinn as the season goes along.

he's compartmentalized it for now....but we know it's going to come up again...he's already told Saul he's out after the next mission

I'm talking about the Cinemax owned/filmed season 1, not the 'official' season 1 which was British.

I'm unclear on what is what....

does it feature two guys...Scott and Stonebridge? One Brit, the other American?

Yeah....I guess after the first 'official' season that was filmed for British TV, they either lost the writers or they ran out of money or something, and pay TV channel Cinemax here in the states stepped in and bought the rights to the show and took over the production of it. I saw the first season that Cinemax produced, not the original British season.

So Carrie being in the looney bin was an op the whole time?

I think from the point after Saul burned her on TV...remember he visited there and she wouldn't talk to him? I think he laid down the plan then.

I think from the point after Saul burned her on TV...remember he visited there and she wouldn't talk to him? I think he laid down the plan then.

Yeah, I didn't think it could have been an op from the outset because when Carrie got to Saul's, she told him that he should have gotten her out of the nut house.

So do you think it's a super secret op that only he and her know about or is that Dar Adal guy in on it too? :-k

Hal-9000
10-21-2013, 03:21 PM
I think that's exactly why Saul did it that way, to keep Dar out of the loop. (Dar is F Murray Abraham, right?) Remember when Saul was talking to his new helper, Dar walked in and they both shut up?

I think Saul knows he's dirty and we'll find that when Carrie meets this leader, Dar will be connected.

Last night at the end of the show, Saul even played it up when his g/f was standing there...."Carrie, why are you here??" and then to his g/f "Give us a minute"

I felt like this as the scene continued

Teh One Who Knocks

(Dar is F Murray Abraham, right?)

Yes

So you think that Saul believe Dar is dirty? Hmmm....I didn't feel that, but maybe you are right, it would make sense as to why Dar is being kept out of the loop. And yeah, I saw how Saul and the new girl both clammed up when Dar walked in, I found that a little odd, so what you are saying kinda makes sense.

So do you think that Saul believes that Dar had some involvement in the CIA bombing and did it to try and implicate Brody? :-k

Just guessing, yes.

That would be the only reason for Saul doing the covert Carrie op in the hospital....Dar is trying to discredit her and Saul is using that to burn him.

Be nice if they could exonerate Brody while getting the bad guys.

Maybe the way Brody's actions affect others?

Her and Mom carry around quite the stigma where ever they go....Hey, aren't you the wife of the marine who tried to blow up the vice president and then blew up over 300 people at CIA headquarters? Yes? Well then would you like some coffee?

I use to hate her whining (Dana) in past shows but I think they're gearing up to something intense with her....maybe Leo is going to kill her? Or try and someone has to save her?

I did like her comment about Dad saying goodbye and that was the last honest thing out of his mouth to her.

I was going to make a similar comment. While it's cool to have flawed protagonists, it would be nice to see a lead who doesn't have a problem...I'm talking about her bipolar disorder. I think the mental illness gives her an edge job-wise but the character is intelligent enough not to keep going off her meds and self destructing constantly.

I do like that Carries gets laid whenever and sometimes just to suit her purpose ...that's refreshing in a female character. Her Brody obsession is now biological, so she'll be sure to make some more bad decisions

I just wish someone would shoot Carrie now, her character is nothing more than annoying. :|

How on earth does someone who completely disobeyed an order during an op (and got shot as a consequence for it FFS!) get right back into everything without even a hint of discipline? And then she turns back into stupid weepy Carrie when she thinks Brody is dead after their truck hit the mine/IED on the way to the Iranian border.

Dana is still the worst character on the show, but Carrie is working her way towards catching up to that spot. :|

Hal-9000
12-02-2013, 05:01 PM
so we need to do a timeline

the CIA gets blown up on which day -
Carrie smuggles Brody to Canada within 2 days -
Brody is in Canada for an undetermined amount of time -
Brody ends up in South America for how long -
Brody gets addicted to heroin -

and Carrie is 13 weeks pregnant, so basically less than 3 months since she's conceived..

something is not right :-k

Teh One Who Knocks

I think they are playing fast and loose with the timeline. They have a lot of plot holes that we all just overlook because the show is so well done. I think they purposely leave things vague so they can plausibly make it fit for the way the story progresses.

It seemed to me that he lost his nerve on the drive in there ....then his marine training kicked in when they were under fire.
