There are a lot of things a 61-year-old man with a record of possession of child pornography, indecent exposure, and public indecency shouldn't do. But taking out an ad in the local paper saying that he would "like to be a big brother" to someone's 7- or 8-year-old daughter is probably at the top of that list.
Ron Antonson of Oakville, Washington did just that, though. The ad he took out read: "I'm 61 years old, I'm retired and would like to be a big brother to your 7 or 8 year old daughter. I like fishing, going to dinner, movies, bowling, etc. Call Ron," and then listed his phone number.
So ... yeah ...
When asked why he placed the ad, Antonson expressed that he always wanted a daughter, saying, "Now I'm too old to have one, so I'll be a big brother to one." He then added, "I put the ad in the paper and I'm taking it out tomorrow."
Be that as it may (totally not be), local law enforcement officials have opened an investigation to determine if Antonson's real intent was to communicate immorally with a minor. (Totally was.) The ad may be "perfectly legal," but it all comes down to his intentions, which, let's face it, will never be revealed by Antonson.
According to Antonson, his criminal record is merely the result of a "misunderstanding." Then when asked why he pleaded guilty to the charges, he said, "I couldn't prove myself, they took the word of a 10-year-old boy." He then added, "I made a few mistakes in my life. Everybody does. The mistakes I made, I paid for them. But I'm not a baby raper and I'm not a child molester."
You hear that, guys? He's not a baby raper. All systems go I guess, then.
Yeah, no. Not only is this guy disgusting for the things he's done, his language is disgusting. So crass. I don't know what he was thinking, taking out such a disturbing ad. Actually, I do know, and it's awful. You want to go to dinner and a movie with a 7-year-old girl? What is wrong with you?
Apparently, the ad resulted in one "serious inquiry" and a barrage of obscene phone calls to Antonson. And he's really not happy about the attention he's receiving from police. He said, "Now everybody's going to see it. All of my neighbors are going to think I'm a (expletive) pervert."
