We have had ours for probably over 8 years, the shit just kind of broke down to the point your body hurt when you got up, if you could even get comfortable to sleep. Which wasnt a problem for the first few years. The new one is a brick, they brake in after some usage, but I slept pretty good last night

bought my buddy's 89 mustang convertible this weekend :woot:

I would have sold you my 85 hatchback.

We needed to get a new mattress, they are a bit pricey for what we were looking for, so my wife called tempurpedic and they made good on their lifetime warranty. We received a brand new mattress and box spring, delivered and installed...ALL FOR FREE

Good deal man!

only reason I bought this one was because I've done a lot of work on it over the years (shit I've done jumping jacks in the engine bay  ) know exactly what's in it and what's been done to it, wanted to keep the car in the family so to speak but since my buddy wanted this fuggin race car, that tipped him over one side of the fence of selling the 89 or not. my explorer needs some work, it'll be good to not be beating on that thing every day. and now when asshole fuck with me on the road, I'll have our lady of blessed acceleration in addition to my middle finger

My wife keeps good records, she is the queen of using the lifetime warranty. I think she gets our pots and pans replaced every 5 years or so, the warranties are typically vague but they assume you will never have the receipt.....she does. She earns her keep in acquiring freebies

One of my old bosses has the best story ever about a stove and a warranty....long story short, got it picked up and replaced on the final day of warranty, because a customer service rep royally pissed him off. One of her instructions - Ok sir, just bring it down to this address and we'll determine if the claim is valid.

He said he lost his shit there BECAUSE IT'S A STOVE FFS  and the original problem was the handle on the oven door. He got so mad that pulled the oven element with a large garage tool and threatened them so strongly that they had a truck out that afternoon. He took pictures of the truck, the driver and the clock while they were there

it was great story

Was it the S, the SV, or the SL, Lance?

It's just the S model, the 'upgrades' that were included in the other models didn't really justify the price difference. We weren't even planning on buying for sure that day, just looking (replacing the g/f's Nissan Sentra) but every time we told them no and that we were leaving, the deal kept getting better and better. They ended up taking $6K off the sticker price and free oil changes/service calls for the life of the lease. $279/month for a vehicle that had a nearly $33K sticker price.

And it's still pretty damn fancy for being the S model anyway, so she's pretty happy.

Yup, just a little over 2 years ago or so, but with the 2 big dogs, we've outgrown that car. Got a mad amount on trade in for it though, still in damn good shape and under 70K miles

Yeah, it's bullshit that they feel the need to play that game, but I guess there are always the people that will jump on the first price out of the saleman's mouth. At the end the sale's manager was telling us that they get paid flat rate there, he doesn't care if the car sells for $50,000 or $50, he gets the same, he just needed to sell 10 cars that day. By just saying no over and over, we got a damn good deal.

Had to break down and buy one. Around here, a comparable used one is $1900 or so. I got this for $2500 ttl out the door. Specs: 16', 4000# axles, spare, ramps, and lifetime warranty (excluding wood and tires). I have projects coming up that require a trailer, and I'm tired of trying to borrow a trailer when I need one.

So, got the new scanner in today. Downloaded updates, hooked it up to the wife's car (08 caliber srt4) and sure enough, it does what I want it to do. Real time date from ecm ( including boost ftw!) abs, now I see that the abs controller is seeing zero data from the left front sensor. Since I had already checked the plug and harness, that leaves the sensor or the ring. Ordered a new sensor this evening ($35) eta is tomorrow morning.

LL Bean is having a labor day sale (10% off). I like their stuff and I also have a $50 gift card so I said screw it. I bought 2 shirts. The total cost (before discounts) was a little less than $114. With 10% off plus the $50 gift card, the total cost came to $52.55. And the Bean ships everything free of charge, so there's that.

Yay me. :woot:

Sweet! It looks similar to the Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn (http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/products/oklahoma-joes-longhorn-smoker) I got at the beginning of summer to replace my 25 year old Brinkman.

Quick cheap mod I did was to put a 4" duct elbow inside where the smoke stack connects. It was a perfect fit to sit on the cooking grate and bend to the outlet.
Gives more even heat across and holds smoke by drawing from a lower point.

No....long-ish story....we buy all our dog food from Chewy.com because it's a higher end food and we can get it cheaper online plus there's no sales tax and free shipping. So in the long run we end up saving quite a bit getting it there over the course of a year. Usually I order two bags at a time so there's two different flavors for the dogs so they don't get bored with the food. Well, about 2-1/2 to 3 months ago, I placed an order and only one of the two boxes was delivered by FedEx even though when you tracked the missing box it says it was delivered. Well, I gave it a couple of days and still no box, so I got hold of Chewy and they said no problem and replaced that missing box free of charge, had it in just a couple of days. Well, fast forward to early last week and I came home fromk work and my dad said one of the neighbors with a similar address brought the box over. They had been out of the country for a few months and one of their neighbors saw the box delivered and stuck it in their garage because they knew they were going to be gone for awhile. So when they came back, they got the box from their neighbor and saw it was mis-delivered and brought it over to us. Now that I had the box, I didn't want any bad karma so I got hold of Chewy again and offered to pay for the box. They said no way, it's yours to keep, it wasn't my fault it was delivered wrong, but if we really wanted to do something with it, to donate it to a shelter. I said will do :) So instead of delivering that bag to the shelter, we kept it and just went to Walmart and bought a lot more food for almost the same cost (we spent about $15 more than what the bag was worth). Granted, we bought lower quality food to donate to the shelter, but we were able to get a LOT more of it for the money and it will go a lot farther out at the shelter than one 30 lb bag would. We ended up getting a 50 lb bag of dog food, a 13 lb bag of adult cat food, a 7 lb bag of kitten food, and a 24 pack of canned wet cat food for the shelter.

No, it will be nationwide. We are up to 17th Amendment 3 at the moment, word was it was coming in 18th edition but that has been put back so we might have another amendment to 17. The single most common cause of house fires in the UK is loose electrical connections, I'm a bit surprised it's not in already tbh.

I didn't think your truck was old enough to need struts yet??

Just replaced the front shocks/struts, couldn't afford to do all four. One of the front shocks was leaking and the handling was getting progressively worse. I guess that the shocks and struts on the front end of a Toyota are an assembly? That's what the shop said and what one of the guys here at work confirmed. And I was trying to get one more winter out of the set of tires I had on, but after the last couple of storms, I might as well have had racing slicks on my truck.

Pony
12-23-2015, 12:56 PM
Not sure on your truck but typically a "loaded" strut contains everything, strut, spring, upper plate, etc. A standard strut is just the "shock" part.

How come over the inexpensiveness of the chromecast?

It wasn't that much more than the Chromecast ($60 vs $35) and I tried the Chromecast once and didn't like it, ended up selling it to Porky.

A Garmin Nuvi 55LMT

Is that a gps device?

DemonGeminiX

Yeah. I don't have a whole lot of data on my smartphone plan, I don't feel like getting more, and gps apps eat data like hungry hippos. I had an older model nuvi gps, but it didn't have lifetime maps and traffic, and buying an upgrade to lifetime maps and traffic would end up costing me more than buying the newer model that comes with lifetime maps and traffic. So I just went ahead and bought the newer model.

It costs $30 for the USA version. I don't want to pay that kind of money for an app, and I don't want a cracked version either. Programmers work just as hard as everybody else and deserve to get paid for their products.

Except for Microsoft. They're dicks, so fuck 'em.

Several boxes of Hornady Critical Defense 9mm 115 gr hollow point ammunition.

On sale at Cabelas.com. Still gotta pay shipping, but they're relatively reasonable rates.

I'd love a 9mm handgun but ammo is at least $26 for a box of 25 Hornandy rounds. Naaawt great. Stuck on .22's :meh:

Project took longer than we thought, so you'll have to excuse the big pot in the sink  The project overlapped dinner and we still only had use of one side of the sink, need to go back to Lowe's and get more PVC to hook up all the drains. The drains aren't in the same locations as the previous crap sink, so we didn't have everything we needed to hook both drains up, we at least just wanted to get water back in the kitchen. Installed a new garbage disposal as well when we swapped out the sinks.
