Define "defending yourself" in light of the need for all those gun toting far right morons to go armed as such in public.....

FU. Its in our constitution via the 2nd amendment. Seems to me you're the moron if you don't understand that.

How long is the trial? Are there free returns?

I bought the Purple Hybrid Premiere 3 and I can't stay awake on it. As soon as I lay down, I'm out.

It's 100 days with free returns so I'll give it a while.

Just looked up the Purple Hybrid Premiere and the construction looks very similar to the Casper Nova Hybrid we got. I think I just need to give it more time, I had a shitty old traditional mattress with a worn out pillow-top so I think I'm just not used to a bed this soft honestly

cool thing about mydiscbag.com is that there's a grid that plots out the speed/glide/turn of your discs and you can double click empty areas for suggestions to fill in gaps. picked up a couple more understable drivers and I need one more shorter range understable and I should be good to go for a while.

(over stable = it really wants to curve left, for a right handed back-throw as is "normal"....under stable allows it to go right more, and if you throw at an up tilted angle (hyzer=tilt down, anhyzer=tilt up) you can get them to have a good swooping curve to the right.)

Initial thoughts: great pedal, but I need to put it on battery or an isolated PS (same with my other pedals) out of the box, i like it better on my bassbreaker 15, medium gain structure, than the blackstar Artist 15 (much cleaner amp) also like it more with the single coils (tele, strat, and DC jr type) than the Les Paul. Granted, those results are with amps maybe halfway up. Might be different with amps dimed. Doesnt clean up, though I didnt expect it to (would have got the smiley instead) my absolute favorite so far is the LP DC jr copy, guitar volume about 8, pedal volume 5, tone middle, attack 8, BB15 amp, middle gain structure, , 4 on gain, BMT all middle, reverb at 2, and volume at 8. (All # refer to 0-10) its sweet there. Almost Leslie sounding. Might sound better if I could play better, haha

In order to clean up with the guitar's volume to get that glassy Hendrix clean sound, you need a germanium fuzz pedal. Silicon transistors just can't do it.

Hard to describe, but if you watch that pedal show, where they go to Mecaris in London, my fav sound there was the mk1 tonebender. Its raunchy, without being "broken speaker". This pedal is a copy(ish) of the mk3, which was my second favorite sound. I could have bought a williams mk1 germanium, but really didn't want to spend the $$. Again, I'm simply not good enough of a player to justify the $. This is close enough. I don't really play Jimmy stuff, and have what I need to get close enough for SRV, so, basically, got it just to try it, lol

its not like they're expensive, a gym doesnt really have an excuse not to have one. I paid like 94 bucks for mine, I got one of the ones that kinda has stands built into it, because I didnt feel like fkn around with that again. I was gonna start on about more suitable for a gym, but the one I got has a 1000lb weight limit to it, and most people arent coming close to that level of deadlifting!

Motion sensor flood light for garage door, a few pvc fittings, and some conduit fittings. Need to repair plumbing in studio, and replace all the lights in garage. Too lazy to start on it today. Think ill just drink some beer.

I've never had much success with motion sensor floods..... they have worked well for a while and either never turn on or never turn off....

Linked to PC and phone?

Records to NVR 24/7 in 4K. Can access remotely from PC or phone. App on my phone is set to low res vids and to send alerts ONLY for person or vehicle detection.
So far I'm really pleased with it, picture quality is really good and so far I haven't gotten any alerts that weren't people or cars nearby. Since it records 24/7 I don't miss the action like you do with some wire free cameras. I believe it tags the clip from before it detected motion so you see the entire event. Setup was super easy, plug and play.

So far the only thing I have to complain about is the NVR is supposed to be wired mouse only, I want to hide the NVR away somewhere and use a wireless mouse. Reportedly only a couple very specific mice work with so I have to trial and error until I find one that works. The reviews on Amazon were helpful on which ones to try.

It's pretty close, the colors are a bit more vibrant on the camera, depends on time of day, lighting, etc. Where I'm at is supposed to be like an island theme so lots of bright colors.

Update: Amazon Basics mice work just fine, I'll be tucking the equipment and cables into a cabinet today.

A used dryer. About 4 years ago we bought a Samsung washer and dryer set. The washer has been great but the dryer has been nothing but problems. It broke down on Tuesday for the THIRD time since we've owned it. We paid to get it fixed the first two times but I am done putting money into it. Looked at the prices of new dryers and it's fucking insane. It costs more to buy an individual unit than it would cost to buy it as part of a set, but I'm not about to spend upwards of $1500 on a new set or $1000 on just a new dryer.

Wife found the same exact model for sale on Nextdoor and we went and looked at it yesterday. In excellent shape, barely used, and it will at least match the washer. Hopefully we just had a lemon and this one will last for awhile. It just sucks when you pay the extra money for a 'premium' brand like Samsung and then it just turns out to be a POS.

Took a semi-private golf lesson with my bro this weekend. The instructor played NCAA and was pretty clearly an incredible golfer, but said very little during the hour, just watched and gave a few tips here and there. Actually so helpful, didn't fill my brain with 50 things to think about when I'm lining up (which was my worry going into the lesson). Just pointed out some issues with my weight being too far forward, not turning my hands over quick enough, etc, and is going to email a simple recap to work on. Signed up for a 5-class package right after the first lesson.

Hey, I'm not judging. You do what you want, bro. It's your money, your stomach, and your time.

Grif notwithstanding. A whole turkey or whole ham anytime during the year? That's way too much hassle for me. Like Porky, I get deli turkey or a small turkey breast the rest of the time, if I'm so inclined. I'm not really a fan of ham, so except for Easter, I tend to stay away. And believe it or not, I've been cooking small lasagnas the past few Thanksgivings and Easters. It's just easier. And cheaper. But mostly easier.

That's a pretty damn good chip, SSD, 1080P and backlit keyboard for a tic over 400 bucks? Sold. The only thing I wish it had is an ethernet port but I'll live.

And I'll sell my buddy my antique core I5 Dell this is replacing for $150

Actually part of my trip to Adelaide was to audition these. I liked the Solaris 2020 (https://campfireaudio.com/shop/solaris-2020/) even more, but I couldn't get them to fit properly with the ear plugs they had, so I went with the Dorado.

Being an audiophile hobbyist, I have a few high end cans, speakers, systems and dacs, but this is my first venture into decent iem's, for the simple reason that the technology has exploded over the past few years. They sound really, really good. The tuning of the Dorado is just like a very clear sweet version of your typical earphones with full rich sound and irritation removed. They balance a solid bass with a sweet clear treble within an overall 'fun' tuning.

This review catches the spirit well:

It's on backorder and scheduled to ship on the next couple of weeks. I'm getting a $200 credit for trading in my old S8 so I figured it was as good a time as any to do it. Plus with the chip shortage, I'm guessing that lead times on new phones will just keep getting longer and longer.

There are times when it's super slow and/or unresponsive and I have to restart it a lot more often than I used to. It's been a good phone and I'll really miss it since I've had it so long and know it inside and out.

But like I said, it was time and if T-mobile wants to give me a $200 credit on my 4+ year old phone, I doubt I'll get that kinda deal again.

Galaxy S21 5G with 256 gigs of memory. Got the one with the expanded memory because the S21's don't have a micro SD card slot anymore.

It's on backorder and scheduled to ship on the next couple of weeks. I'm getting a $200 credit for trading in my old S8 so I figured it was as good a time as any to do it. Plus with the chip shortage, I'm guessing that lead times on new phones will just keep getting longer and longer.

I think thats the one I have.. Maybe the S20..

I didn't know where else to relate this story from my recent cross country trip, but it sort of ties in here...

We went to the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center (https://www.wolfeducation.org/) in Divide, CO., paid extra for the VIP encounter where we met this guy, but that's another story. https://static.wixstatic.com/media/e8106d_c25f49e899854955ac23bffd96633f21~mv2.jpg/v1/crop/x_43,y_88,w_673,h_635/fill/w_353,h_333,al_c,q_80,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01/4_%20Smile.webp

There is a habitat for the Mexican Gray Wolves that is noticeably different than the others, mainly because they are owned by the federal game commission with their own set of guidelines for housing wild animals but are living here. Anyhow another guest asked why there was barbed wire angled in at the top.
The interpreter once again explained about government regs but also went on to say, "We have never had an escape here but we noticed these particular wolves would go to the corner and climb up the fence to get out... we had no idea they could do that."
Without missing a beat I said, "Well, they're Mexican."

If looks could kill I'm pretty sure I wouldn't still be here.

Alright this vacuum actually owns. I vacuumed the entire house, the cat's and dog's bed and there isn't a single strand of hair clogged in the powerhead. On top of that, I had to empty the larger canister FAR more times than normal, which tells me that the old vacuum was doing a completely shit job.

For the hardwood, this thing has a soft powerhead attachment with a laser on it that beams a flat light across the floor to see dust and hair... I thought it sounded like a stupid gimmick, but I was horrified and highly entertained realizing how dusty certain areas of the house were that I thought were fine.

Money well spent. Who knew a vacuum would be this fun  Am I old now?

It's probably a $250 thermostat, but the "$692.00" price tag is because they have it in stock and included trouble shooting and installation.. I tried to buy one on Amazon but nothing was available to show up the next day. Everything was a vague Nov. 8th- Nov 16th delivery time frame.. I could continue searching and probably locate one but Im not sure what time I would have to invest.. Also, if for some reason the thermostat is not the problem, the Lennox guys will uninstall it and continue their diagnostic and not charge me for that..

That's fucked up though that they charge so much. You know there won't be any problems with the thermostat until it goes beyond the warranty. That's the way it always goes.

Initially quoted for 2 solar tubes installed by phone. $2100 (with blind for bedroom) $1500.

The dude comes out Monday and I get the quote 5 pm Friday, installed (in same order) for: $2740 and $1930 (plus $1600 for a solar vent for a hot roof).

Called up West Australia store (still afternoon with time difference) and all the parts are repesctively $1845 and $1278 and $772

So, that's $2400 labour for a day, 2 man team. I recon 6-7 hours = 170 - 200 dollar an hour :meh:

Well, cooked the prime rib yesterday and took this bad boy out for the initial trial. A bit of a learning curve with it as some of the instructions are on the vague sign. When you insert the thermometer and go through the cook prep on the app (it guides you through the type of protein (pork, beef, chicken, etc and then through the various cuts), it gives you two temps, the internal of the meat and the ambient outside temp of the environment. It also says "estimating cook time". Got the oven pre-heated and put the roast in. The ambient temp went up quickly, but always stayed below what the temp the oven was set at, which concerned me that our oven might not be working right. Searched the site and it said that it give the accurate temp at the location of the probe sticking out from the meat and that non-convection type ovens have 'cold spots' in them and that it shouldn't be too concerning.

It took a fair amount of time for the estimated cooking time to actually generate a number. The interior of the meat started at 44° (I took the roast from the fridge about 2 hours prior to cooking to help bring it up in temp to make it cook better/more evenly as it was an almost 6 lb roast) and it didn't generate an estimated time for about 30 to 40 minutes after the roast was in the over and the interior temp of the roast was in the mid 50's range. The estimated time is always adjusting which was good because the first time it generated seemed waaaaaaaaay too long. But it adjusted itself based on the interior temp of the roast. You can set a "5 minute warning" where the app will let you know that you are about 5 minutes away from pulling the roast from the oven. We were going for medium rare which is an interior temp of about 135° and the app had me pull the roast at about 125° and then gave me a resting time. That time will also fluctuate based on the interior temp of the roast. took between 15 and 20 minutes of rest time for the temp to reach 135° and we were ready to dig in.

Cut into the roast and even the end cut was still on the pink-ish side which is hard to achieve because obviously the ends get more heat for a longer amount of time. The farther we cut into it, it was pretty close to a perfect medium rare. Maybe could have cut into it closer to 130° as I like my meat a lot closer to rare than medium rare, but I have to say, for my first go around with it, I'm pretty impressed with it. Took almost all the guesswork out of how long to cook the roast. I have a pork roast in the fridge for next weekend and will be trying it out again on that one and see how it goes, but so far, I really like it.
