Tires and brakes?

It was $1000 on some parts that went bad, something to do with the emissions system.

Then it was back brakes, pads, rotors, and calipers for over $600.

there's threads on both, I don't know shit about cars.

I could "get" my own, problem is they are a security company, they usually discover pretty quickly when you're not using legit software. Most people I know that do it are changing product keys every couple weeks because it gets blocked.

$20 > hassle

Hmm, last 3 days, filled up the truck 5 times, bought some fast food, and apparently, the gas stations were nice enough to put an extra $125 hold on each time I filled up. Fucking assholes! That's an extra $625 out of my account that I can't use now.

They had some awesome sale prices happening yesterday....we got lucky on a LOT of things.

Perfect example....I have been looking for a carpet runner to put down in the garage to get over to the freezers from the door in case you don't have shoes on. I didn't care what it looked like because it's going in the garage FFS, but carpet runners aren't cheap. Lowes had a closeout on some industrial grade looking carpet runners....50 cents/foot. I bought the 15 feet they had left.

Never use a debit card for gas. That same hold on a credit card doesn't affect you at all (unless you are near your limit).

I've been told both way about the Debit/credit card. Some say to use it as credit, and some as debit. Either way, the hold wouldn't normally be a problem, except for the fact that the holds in this case were for 3 days (over the weekend) and my wife couldn't get to the bank to transfer funds into the account. I normally only keep $1000 in this account, as it is for my traveling expenses (food, fuel, beer, etc).
The 5 fill ups were all over $50 so, with my other expenses during that time, the holds caused me to have to use a different card for my food and fuel for a day. I had thought Texas passed a law about the holds, limiting the amount and time that could be held. Guess I was wrong.

Oh, and for clarification, I don't normally use a true "credit" card. I use my bank issued credit/debit card.

Whenever I have used my debit card at a 'pay at the pump' gas station, I have never had it authorize for more than $1, there has never been any hold on funds in my account.

See, and that's the thing. It used to be that way here, but over the last year or two, I've noticed some places put larger holds on the card and sometimes the hold doesn't clear right away. And it seems to be random as to which stations do it. The closest station to me, which I use all the time, only does it on holidays. They ought to at least put a sign on the pump if they are going to do that. Guess I'll have to start paying inside again.

Me too...all the time. Maybe they don't "reserve" money from your account for us like that. I think that we have a different system here in Canada - we are limited to $99 on most pumps I find.

And around here in some municipalities we often have to go in and prepay anyway - all to do with an incident a few years ago when someone did a gas-and-go (fuel equivalent of a dine-and-dash) and ended up running over and killing the poor teenage attendant.

There's nothing really wrong with our 32" LG in the bedroom, it's just now having the house, the bedroom is so much bigger and it makes the TV rather small. I wanted to go as big as possible for the location of the TV.

Plus, my dad rarely moves from in front of the TV downstairs in the living room. :| Because of that, me and the g/f watch a lot of TV in our bedroom because of it, so I wanted to get something nice and something that would last awhile.

If it takes 10 gallons to maintain your lawn each time, I think it's time to take the lance approach at lawn care, paint the dirt green.

3.97 a gallon here, just filling my tank.

Riding mower holds about 5 gals. Takes about half a tank to cut the grass, so I can cut about 4 times with 10gals. (3 acres) Last couple of years I've only had to cut about once a month. I just cut last week (thurs or so iirc) and now have to cut again. Lord knows we need the rain, but the grass sure does grow faster,

It's not for me, it's for my wife. She's still not 100% comfy with the pistol. It's a pretty simple one to use (Hi-point .40cal DA semi auto) Cheap as hell, but like an AK, it's dependable as hell. Only safety is a thumb slide that will prevent the trigger from being pulled, of racking the slide back to chamber a round.

I'm also gonna pick up some .22 long for the small pistol and have my daughter spend some time shooting it. She hates guns because of the noise, but is actually quite accurate with the pellet rifle.

Sounds stupid as hell to me as well, until I think about how the "Castle" "Stand your ground" laws are written. The all are based around the fact that you are in fear of your life/property/family etc and are rooted in the belief that you should run away first if able.
If you have time to fire a warning shot, your life is not in sufficient danger to warrant use of a firearm.

Honest stuff here, I've told my wife many times to never, ever fire a warning shot. Always say "Oops, I missed!"

To my knowledge, I've never argued with anyone over having or not having firearms. You have to be comfortable with the tools you have, whether that be hand to hand, QCB knife fighting or firearms.
I have nothing but respect for the way you live your life and take care of you folks Hal. Seriously.

There's been times I was kinda glad I didn't have access to a gun because I was so mad....it's like one the news stories today. Guy shoots his buddy when they're having a drunken tiff about not driving. Those are the things I worry about when we have gun discussions. A person can be a responsible owner...until something changes. Anger, booze, drugs, fear...

you set a good example today man, the respect is thrown right back at you

KevinD
08-08-2013, 11:29 PM
Very, very valid points. Those are some of the major reasons I never carried a gun when I was younger. I had a bad, bad temper. There were times where if I had one, I would have used it, and not for a good reason.
Owning/carrying a weapon is a personal choice. I would not argue with anyone else's decision about it. Where the communication starts to break down is that I firmly believe in my constitutional amendment's which give me the right to choose to own or not.

And if your batteries die when you are nowhere near a charging station?

It has gas too, but not a hybrid engine like the Prius, it uses gas to run a generator that makes electricity. I wasnt going to get a electric only when they have such a limited distance.

Seems fine so far, not much negative reviews about it from what I read online.
