A 31-year-old woman was charged on Wednesday for a July incident in which she allegedly asked Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies to arrest her mailbox while she was high on Xanax, a probable cause affidavit says.
Sheila Lederer, of Wellington, was arrested on two counts of child neglect.
According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office probable cause affidavit, deputies went to Lederer's house to conduct a welfare check on July 8. Before they arrived, Lederer called 911 saying there was someone hiding in her bushes.
Lederer told the deputy to arrest her mailbox, then told the deputy she had taken the prescription drug Xanax, according to the affidavit.
The state Department of Children & Families came to Lederer's house and removed the two kids, whose names were withheld in the report.
