I had to keep taking my father to the hospital during the last months of his life. Parking there used to be the old - Get a ticket and then pay on the way out.

Every lot had a new system like above and you had to pay in cash or use a credit card, no debit cards. And here's the real shitty part. You had to predict and pre-pay a certain amount of time.

If you've ever taken someone to emergency you can be there for hours before getting a room. Even visiting someone in a room you have to predict how long and they have guys roaming the lots checking your license plate number against the computer to ensure that you paid.

I was so angry with the system I filled out a complaint form supplied by the nurses in the hospital. They had to use the same system too and they worked there!!!

How many times does a person have 14 dollars in cash (coins) on them? And of course one of my credit cards wouldn't work in the machines.

I'm just acutely aware of how quickly they can become overstimulated and that's when they lash out. I see a lot of people picking cats up and cuddling them when it's clear the cat has had enough. And from watching Jackson Galaxy, I can see the signs of overstimulation from a mile away, but it seems like everybody else ignores them, especially little kids.

Was it good?

It was excellent. Based on sketchy reports from past adventurers of varying repute, there are tales of an old city in the primeval Honduran rain forest.

A well known fiction author Douglas Preston hooks up with some other old rich white guys and they use Lidar (like sonar but used above ground) to possibly penetrate below the rain forest cover and locate ruins. Spoiler alert they do locate at least two huge sites and then go in on foot to explore one of them.

The author and four other people developed a form of flesh eating bacteria from sand fly bites called Leishmaniasis. The cure and treatment can be brutal and take months or years. Couple of people are still sick from it.

Snakes called Fer-de-lance live where they went and people often have to get limbs amputated after being bit. They spit venom up to 6 feet and often jump-strike, higher than your knee. If you want to barf up your breakfast, google the snake's name along with effects.

They figure that no humans have visited the valley they explored since before Cortes in the 1500's. These guys had money, helicopters, modern camping equipment and protection, and ex-SAS members protecting them on the 10 day trip and they still almost died going there :lol:

At the Staples near my place everything from the heaviest chairs and desks to larger electronics are stored on the shelf just above eye level.

As someone who worked in a warehouse for years, lifting something at waist level is 100 times easier than lifting something up or down.
