Demaryius Thomas, the 33-year-old former Pro Bowl wide receiver and Super Bowl champion with the Denver Broncos, has died.

The former NFL star’s death was first reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. DeMarcus Ware, who played with Thomas from 2014 to 2016, wrote on Twitter he was "heartbroken" and posted a photo of himself with the former NFL player.

The cause of Thomas’ death wasn’t immediately known. Police told TMZ Sports Thomas was found dead inside his Georgia home Thursday night. His agents did not immediately respond to an email inquiry from Fox News.

"Preliminary information is that his death stems from a medical issue, and our investigators currently have no reason to believe otherwise," said Officer Tim Lupo, public information officer for the police department in Roswell, Georgia.

Reaction poured in on social media.

The Georgia native had a stellar career at Georgia Tech before turning pro. In his junior season, he had 46 catches for 1,154 yards and eight touchdowns. He would enter the 2010 draft pool and be selected by the Broncos with the No. 22 overall pick.

One of the highlights of his career came in the 2011 season when he and Tim Tebow connected for a game-winning touchdown pass to upset the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Wild Card playoffs. Denver was 8-8 that season and the Steelers were 12-4.

Thomas would put together three consecutive Pro Bowl seasons after that. From 2012 to 2016, he would have more than 1,000 receiving yards. He quickly became the top target for Peyton Manning when the Hall of Famer joined the Broncos in 2012. The connection quickly elevated the Broncos to one of the best teams in the NFL and it culminated in one Super Bowl title and another Super Bowl appearance.

Thomas would later play for the Houston Texans and New York Jets. He had 724 catches for 9,763 yards and 63 touchdowns during his career.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — SoT, a cocktail bar on Grand Boulevard in Kansas City, has responded to Jackson Mahomes, brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, after a now-deleted social media rant against the bar.

According to the message sent to Mahomes, SoT said that he became upset after they were unable to accommodate his large party.

It’s time to have a talk.

Today we are experiencing a lot of activity over social media regarding a recent visit paid to us by an unhappy guest. This person happens to have a lot of followers on social media and therefor it is something that we cannot ignore.

Voice, reach and influence are power. In our case, and with many businesses that are locally owned, the power of a few social media personalities can make or break that business. This grants these people this certain power to effect our livelihoods.

There are those who have built their influence by being responsible, informed, positive and sincere.

There are also those that have built their followings by being the opposite.

That being said, we have some apologies to make.

Dear @jacksonmahomes

We are sorry that we set boundaries that you tried to ignore. Often times people with un-earned status and a sense of entitlement think they are above the rules and will lash out at the employee enforcing them.

We are sorry we could not seat your very large group. As you probably saw, our bar is very small.

We are sorry that you have the reach that you do, or at least that you think you do and that instead of using it for something positive you decided to use it to try and crush a small business.

We survived a global pandemic, we’ll survive your ego.

We are sorry you didn’t reach out to us first before taking to social media, but then again that is an expectation we would have from a mature and rational person, not someone who pours water on fans and dances on the memorials of tragically lost people for TikTok clout.

We have not been fortunate enough to be born into a much more talented and much more famous family but we would like to think that if we did have that much luck- we would use our influence in more responsible ways.

We hope our apology finds you well

SOT VIA FACEBOOK

Mahomes’ now-deleted social media posts, allegedly said he had an awful experience and awful service when he attended the bar to his 255,000 followers.

“We survived a global pandemic, we’ll survive your ego,” SoT wrote. “We are sorry you didn’t reach out to us first before taking to social media, but then again that is an expectation we would have from a mature and rational person, not someone who pours water on fans and dances on the memorials of tragically lost people for TikTok clout.”

Mahomes made headlines earlier this season for two incidents during Chiefs road games.

During a loss in Baltimore, the younger brother of Patrick Mahomes was seen pouring water on an opposing fan that was heckling him.

At Washington, he was seen dancing for a TikTok video while on top of the late Sean Taylor’s retired number that was being honored that day.

Mahomes came out and apologized for both incidents and said that in Washington, stadium staff actually told him and other VIPs to stand there.

The cocktail bar has since deleted their post and published another apology for the way they handled the situation.

“The team at SoT is committed to providing every guest that walks through our doors with the best experience possible, while treating them with respect and humility. Yesterday, we failed to meet those expectations,” the bar wrote.

Mahomes has not responded to the message at the time of this writing.

Aaron Rodgers will be back with the Green Bay Packers in 2022 -- and beyond. The reigning NFL MVP agreed to a four-year, $200 million extension with the Packers that will make him the highest-paid player in NFL history with a $50 million average annual salary, CBS Sports NFL Insiders Jason La Canfora and Jonathan Jones confirmed.

Rodgers will receive $153 million guaranteed as part of the extension, creating significant amounts of salary cap space available for the Packers (approximately $21 million). Rodgers considered retirement and potentially a trade to the Denver Broncos or another team as other options, but this commitment to the Packers suggests the team's all-time passing touchdowns leader will finish his career in Green Bay.

More to come on this story as it develops.

That graphic was before last season started so that's why Bridgewater is shown as 0-0 as a starter, but it still shows that we've had 10 starting QB's since Manning retired (11 starters if you count the one FUBAR game during Covid where all 4 of Denver's actual QB's couldn't play because they had tested positive so we had to start practice squad wide receiver Kendall Hinton). It's been an absolute shit show at the QB position here. Yes, Denver gave up a lot of picks, including their #1 this year coming up, but I think it will be worth it. Wilson gets a change of scenery and he is still a top tier QB in the league. He's only 32 so he has a chance of playing a good 5 or 6 years (if not more) if he stays healthy. We didn't give up a lot in terms of players, although I really liked Noah Fant at TE, so I think that will be a bit of a loss, but other than that, it wasn't too bad. I do feel bad for Drew Lock, he really wasn't ever given a fair shot here. He was first hyped up locally as the next John Elway and no one could live up to that kind of pressure. Then when he under performed, the fans quickly turned on him. And he was constantly looking over his shoulder because Denver was always looking to bring in a (failed) veteran QB. And not to mention the fact that we had a completely HORRIBLE OC here for all for Lock's career in Denver.

Yeah, it might have been too much if Wilson doesn't perform, but if we can get into the playoffs and have a legit shot at the Super Bowl, it will end up being worth it. There's hope again for the team which is a far cry from the last handful of seasons where the hope was just that the Broncos would finish above .500 for the season.

The NFL is replacing the Pro Bowl with weeklong skills competitions and a flag football game, The Associated Press has learned.

The new event will replace the full-contact showcase started in 1951. It will be renamed “The Pro Bowl Games” and will feature AFC and NFC players showcasing their football and non-football skills in challenges over several days. The 2023 Games will be held in Las Vegas, and the flag football game at Allegiant Stadium is Sunday, Feb. 5.

Peyton Manning and his Omaha Productions company will help shape programming and promote the event’s content throughout the week. Manning, a 14-time Pro Bowl pick during his Hall of Fame career, will provide his perspective and will also be a part of the coaching staff for flag game.

The NFL has canceled the Bills-Bengals game that was previously postponed on Monday night. The league has also planned a vote Friday with two adjustments for the AFC playoffs on the table.

While the NFL's cancellation decision will not impact which teams make the playoffs, it may impact seedings, which is why the league has come up with several potential rule changes to even out the competitive inequities that not playing the game will create.

Under the proposal that will be voted on by owners, the AFC Championship could potentially become a neutral-site game if any of the three following scenarios are met:

Scenario 1: If Buffalo and Kansas City both win or both tie in Week 18, then a Buffalo vs. Kansas City championship game would be at a neutral site.
Scenario 2: If the Bills and Chiefs both lose in Week 18 and Baltimore wins or ties with the Bengals, then a Buffalo vs. Kansas City championship game would be at a neutral site.
Scenario 3: If Buffalo and Kansas City both lose and Cincinnati beats Baltimore, then a Bills or Bengals vs. Chiefs championship game would be at a neutral site.

The NFL is also giving the Ravens a chance to possibly host a wild-card game even though Baltimore can't mathematically win the AFC North. Even if the Ravens win on Sunday against the Bengals, that would put them at 11-6, which would still be a half game behind the Cincinnati, who would finish 11-5 with a loss.

Under that scenario, the Ravens wouldn't win the division even though they swept the Bengals AND had a better division record. To fix that problem, the proposal on the table is that the NFL will flip a coin to see who hosts a Ravens-Bengals wild-card game if:

1. The Ravens beat the Bengals on Sunday, and ...
2. If the two teams are scheduled to play each other in the wild-card round.

Both the AFC Championship proposal and the Ravens proposal will be voted on Friday.

"As we considered the football schedule, our principles have been to limit disruption across the league and minimize competitive inequities," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said of why the league came to these two decisions. "I recognize that there is no perfect solution. The proposal we are asking the ownership to consider, however, addresses the most significant potential equitable issues created by the difficult, but necessary, decision not to play the game under these extraordinary circumstances."

The circumstances Goodell is referring to is the situation involving Damar Hamlin. The Bills and Bengals played for nearly nine minutes on Monday night before the game was stopped after the Bills safety went into cardiac arrest on the field. After being given CPR, Hamlin was taken by ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical center, where he's been listed in critical condition for the past three days.

The only thing on the NFL's mind over the past 72 hours has been the health of Hamlin, which has improved remarkably over the past 24 hours. Two members of Hamlin's medical team held a press conference on Thursday and revealed that not only is he moving both his arms and legs, but he's also been able to communicate through writing with friends and family. (He even asked who won the Bills-Bengals game while communicating with a nurse on Wednesday night.)

"This has been a very difficult week," Goodell said in a statement. "We continue to focus on the recovery of Damar Hamlin and are encouraged by the improvements in his condition as well as the tremendous outpouring of support and care for Damar and his family from across the country."

With Hamlin's health improving, the NFL finally sat down to figure out what the next move should be with the Bills-Bengals game. With that out of the way, the next step for the league will now come on Friday when the league votes to possibly implement these two extraordinary measures for the playoffs.

With the cancellation, this will mark the first time since 1935 that every NFL team hasn't played the same amount of games.

The Philadelphia Eagles locked up the National Football Conference (NFC) championship on Sunday, clinching a spot in the upcoming Super Bowl LVII — and someone at the Empire State Building thought that was cause for celebration.

The iconic tower was lit in green and white in honor of the Eagles, and an announcement via Twitter accompanied the lighting change: “Fly @Eagles Fly! We’re going Green and White in honor of the Eagles NFC Championship Victory.”
1619837289701711872
But for some New Yorkers, the pain of their Giants losing to the Eagles only a week earlier was a bit too fresh for such celebrations — and they took to Twitter to voice their complaints.

Jesuit priest James Martin commented, “#FlyEaglesFly! But I wouldn’t want to be the New Yorker responsible for this. They love their @Giants here! Yesterday, I walked into my neighborhood gym wearing my @Eagles hat, and the guy behind the desk said, ‘They are going to LOSE tomorrow! LOSE!’ Then he said hello.”

“I can’t wait to read the full oral history of this tweet,” MSNBC host Chris Hayes added.

Former U.S. Congressman — and gubernatorial candidate — Lee Zeldin (R-NY) weighed in as well, saying, “Please tell me this is because someone who controls the Empire State Building lost a tremendously stupid bet.”
1619893790650822656
“Excuse me. Did they move the Empire State Building to Philadelphia? This is just wrong,” ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan remarked.

New York City Councilman Justin Brannan proposed “A Local Law to amend the New York city charter and the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to this never happening again.”

The New York City Sanitation Department added their thoughts, saying, “For anyone who finds this as treacherous, traitorous, and unforgivable as we do – just pretend it’s green and white for #NewYorksStrongest. We take out the trash every day … and next year, that’ll include the Eagles.”

“How are we going to explain this to all of the other buildings. They looked up to you,” @NYCBuildings added.

Brock Purdy has a "complete tear" of the UCL in his throwing elbow, according to NFL Network. That really sucks for him. :(

Imagine going from "Mr Irrelevant" to stepping in halfway through the Niners season and having just an amazing season and making it all the way to one game before the Super Bowl only to suffer possibly a career ending injury on the first play of the game.

The name of the football team playing in Washington D.C. is once again under question.

A group called the Native American Guardian’s Association (NAGA) is demanding the Washington Commanders change their name back to the Redskins, organizing support for the name reversal with a petition that has gained more than 90,000 signatures.

“We invite all Americans to stand up for the dignity of EVERY AMERICAN under assault in today’s increasingly nonsensical culture wars,” the petition says.

“This ‘LINE IN THE SAND’ moment reinforces undeniable history of the NATIVE AMERICAN assisting the FOUNDING OF AMERICA, with NATIVE AMERICAN principles used by the FOUNDING FATHERS in the US Constitution – and, EVERY AMERICAN’s right to the 1st and 14th Amendment and not to be targets of cancel culture or ESG.

“This is not a simple left or right issue for Americans; it reaches across the political spectrum dating back to our Founding Fathers.”

The letter was addressed to the Commanders’ leadership group, including new owners Josh Harris and Magic Johnson as well as head coach Ron Rivera.

“As the NFL franchise representing the nation’s capital, you have a distinct opportunity to recognize the history and value of the American Indian,” the letter continues.

NAGA, which is led by a board of Native Americans, is a “non-profit organization advocating for increased education about Native Americans, especially in public educational institutions, and greater recognition of Native American Heritage through the high profile venues of sports and other public platforms,” according to its website.

Disgraced former team owner Dan Snyder changed the organization’s name in 2020 after years of pressure, beginning the 2020 and 2021 seasons with the name “Washington Football Team” before opting for the Commanders moniker prior to the 2022 season.

According to ESPN, the team could be looking to change its name again following its sale to the ownership group led by Harris, largely in an effort to distance themselves from Synder’s disastrous tenure.

Looks like that Aaron Rogers season is over, he apparently tore his Achilles on the Jets 4th offensive snap of the night. They are awaiting an MRI for confirmation.

I hate the Cowboys, so I'm real happy they got embarrassed at home

The only game I wish would have gone differently was the KC/MIA game because I fucking hate the Chiefs. But I knew there was no way the Dolphins were going to win in sub-zero weather.

I'll give you one guess of which NFL player that was the clowns were shopping around for this

Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle from my team the 49'ers are some of the best ball players I've seen in a long time.
