I thought it was utterly friggin terrible! She had a bunch of snare drums rolling and still couldnt even come remotely close to keeping it in time, wailing notes alllll oooooover the place....

Its just about to the point where nobody can perform this song properly anymore, everyone thinks that butching the shit out of the entire thing is just taking "poetic license" - no, its called you sucking and not being able to perform the national anthem! Go back to your practice room, get a damn metronome and a recording device and listen to yourself - and leave your ego outside the listening room biach!

it was like one of my ol weekend warrior guitarists....duuuude that was like the best we every played this!
*listens to recording of it*
actually, that kinda sucked, man...

as to the game...drops, drops, few missed throws...

but of course saying eli wouldnt have done shit without nicks and what's his face would be just like saying brady wouldnt be doing shit without pretty much every single one of his targets being an excellent receiver. as much as I wanted the patriots to lose, I wanted Eli to lose more

Dude, you're not listening, Sure, he is a great quarterback, no one is disputing that, but it doesn't change the fact that he could get seriously fucked up if he keeps playing. That man's got a family to think about and he's no good to them as a quadriplegic. He's had vertebrae in his neck fused and there are reports that he still may need a few more surgeries. I'm all for gambling but when you're facing situations like that without the rumors, it's time to cash in and look for another line of employment with considerably less risk.

yeah I didn't consider that aspect, he probably wouldn't want to do that. If he goes to Miami I'll be pissed. All these star athletes in every sport are making their way there it seems. Plus Reggie Wayne basically said that if Peyton goes to Miami he would too. So he would have Wayne and Brandon Marshall to throw to and a pretty good offensive line protecting him. But he'd have to go against Brady twice a year.

The best players aren't always picked in the 1st and 2nd rounds. Sometimes, you just get lucky and the guys you don't think much of develop into fantastic players.

As an Indianapolis native the Manning situation is bittersweet. We love this guy more than Reggie Miller and if you were from Indy you would understand what that really meant

What may or may not be apparent to outsiders is that Irsay is one of those owners that actually does care about his players. The rumors around here are that the decision took as long as it did because Irsay was trying to convince Peyton to retire for his own good. As far as I'm concerned it is the best move possible given the risks of continued play. He has nothing left to prove. Hopefully however many years he has left will be injury free. Whichever team picks him up should expect at least a season for him to get back to the old Peyton form

Once his playing days are over Indianapolis will be here with open arms to welcome him back to coach

Brandon Marshall headed to Chicago Bears

================================================== ============

Brandon Marshall trade so bad it must be to get Peyton Manning
March 13, 2012|By Dave Hyde, Sun Sentinel
http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2012-03-13/sports/sfl-brandon-marshall-miami-dolphins-trade-hyde-20120313_1_brandon-marshall-bad-trade-dallas-clark

By itself, the trading of Brandon Marshall to Chicago for two third-round picks is so awful for the Dolphins there has to be something more behind it. I'm guessing it's Peyton Manning. I'm guessing it's to clear some cap space to get Manning, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and put the Indy gang back together.

Let's play this out. Two years ago, the Dolphins traded two No. 2 draft picks to Denver and gave Marshall a $47.5 million contract ($24 million guaranteed) for Marshall. So for two years' service, they gave up two high draft picks and about $35 million?

And they get two third-round picks in return?

That's not a move a team makes unless there's something else behind it. And, again, it has to be Manning. That's the focus of the Dolphins' off-season plans. This couldn't have been done to make an easier landing spot for Matt Flynn, clearing out a receiver who hasn't always been happy with his quarterbacks (Chad Henne, Matt Moore ...)

Nor would you make such a bad trade to make Marshall happy. He's jokingly (?) talked about reuniting with Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler. But so what?

Let's sit back and see what else happens.

Update: Manning spoke with Broncos officials on Friday and was offered a contract in the neighborhood of five years, $90 million, the Denver Post reports.

Recommendation: Manning worked out for the Broncos on Friday in Durham, N.C. The Broncos intend to work off of Manning’s previous contract with the Colts, which was five years for $90 million. The Broncos, along with the Titans and 49ers, are believed to be the top finalists for Manning’s services. The Broncos have more than $15 million extra in salary cap room to sign Manning, but Manning has said that he first and foremost wants to play for a team he can lead to the Super Bowl.

No idea, and not for too much I would imagine...best fit would probably be Jacksonville as he went to school not far from there and he's popular in Florida, it would help the Jaguars sell tix.

I think that's the most likely place, although even that's up in the air now because they already brought in Chad Henne along with Blaine Gabbert who they drafted last year

Joe Montana knows all about quarterback controversies. After he helped the San francisco 49ers win four Super Bowls from 1981 to 1989, he was replaced over time by Steve Young and eventually traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 1993. The 49ers won their fifth Super Bowl in franchise with Young at the helm the next season, and the it could be argued that the 49ers had the best right-handed and best left-handed quarterbacks in NFL history on their roster at the same time. Not bad, really.

The stakes in the New York Jets' current quarterback controversy are a bit lower at this point -- Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow are two players looking to meet (never mind exceed) the expectations set for them as first-round draft picks. Both quarterbacks are still finding their feet in the NFL, and the Jets' recent trade for Tebow could very well complicate Sanchez's development process -- unless the Jets are counting on Tebow as the contingency in case the Sanchez upswing never takes place.

Tebow Time with the Jets will become official at Monday's press conference, but Montana has already laid down his verdict on the decision to have the two passers in the same rotation.

"Mark is a better player right now and that's it," Montana wrote in an email to the New York Daily News. "As long as Mark believes in himself and plays, it's not an issue. It's more of an issue for those of you who write, or blog or tweet and all the other methods of delivering content."

Um, OK. Not sure how it's an issue for those providing content, but whatever. It is a very serious issue for the Jets, who reportedly plan to have Sanchez as their starter, and Tebow as a Wildcat/option quarterback who could see action in up to 20 plays per game. it's an issue for a fanbase that may wind up wanting Tebow as the full-on starter no matter what. After all, there are people in Denver disappointed that Tebow isn't there anymore, and John Elway got Peyton Manning to replace him -- last time I checked, Sanchez isn't anywhere near Peyton Manning's approximate universe as a quarterback.

Montana does raise an interesting point about Sanchez believing in himself, though. As much as this seems like an ill-fitting exercise to steal the back pages from the Giants (who grabbed them in the first place by, you know, winning Super Bowls), this is a test of Sanchez's mettle and ability to deal with distractions. If the Tebow circus causes Sanchez to shrink from his ultimate potential, the Jets will be that much closer to knowing who their long-term quarterback isn't.

As a traditional quarterback, Sanchez is better than Tebow -- Montana's right about that. But Tebow has shown an ability to drive intangibles home with rare consistency, and this is anything but a typical situation. It's now Sanchez's turn to live up to Montana's praise.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) Peyton Manning is on target and there's plenty of zip on his throws at the Denver Broncos' first OTA workout.

Manning ran the offensive practice, lining up receivers, running backs and even fellow quarterbacks during the Broncos' workout Monday that marked the first time the media witnessed Manning throwing the ball since last year's training camp.

Up until now, reporters have had to rely on his receivers for updates on his progress from a series of neck operations. Manning has refused to talk about it.

Manning was released by the Indianapolis Colts in March after he missed the entire 2011 season because of a nerve injury that caused weakness in his throwing arm. The only four-time MVP in league history signed with Denver, leading to Tim Tebow's departure.

Shanahan remained on his back for a couple of minutes while he was checked near midfield.

Eventually, he was helped up and then stood for a bit before walking to the sideline, where he watched the rest of Monday's practice near general manager Bruce Allen.

The Redskins didn't immediately say whether Shanahan was injured.

Team spokesman Tony Wyllie said Shanahan wouldn't speak to reporters Monday because he wasn't ''in condition to talk at the podium.''

DENVER (AP) – Peyton Manningswears he’s not 100 percent yet. The Denver Broncos swear it doesn’t matter. He looks fine to them.

And they’re pinning their hopes on the 36-year-old quarterback who missed all of last season with the Colts, who released him in March, setting off the biggest free agent scramble in NFL history.

In the six offseason practices the Broncos opened to the media, Manning looked like he’d never missed a beat, hitting the open man short and long with touch passes or blistering fastballs.

There is no question about his arm strength, only about his timing with his new targets.

Coach John Fox said he’s seen very little rust and nary a hint of trouble with Manning’s right arm, so it’s full speed ahead leading up to the preseason opener on Aug. 9 against Chicago.

Checking out last month’s mandatory minicamp was Tom Moore, Manning’s offensive coordinator for all but one season when the two were in Indianapolis.

“Watching these three days, he looked excellent to me,” Moore said.

Manning has shown no ill effects of the nerve issue that caused weakness in his throwing arm last year, required four neck operations, including a fusion.

“We don’t think about the injury anymore,” said receiver Brandon Stokley, who played with Manning in Indianapolis. “And I’m not sure he does, either.”

The Broncos took a chance by signing the league’s only four-time MVP to a five-year, $96 million deal in March, when John Elway famously said: “Plan B? I don’t have a Plan B. We’re going with Plan A.”

Manning averaged 42 passes a game in his last full season, in 2010, but the Broncos don’t plan to have him air it out that much.

They’re meshing some of the power formations they used in leading the league in rushing last year with some of the spread formations that Manning was accustomed to running in Indy.

“We’re being aggressive with everything we’re doing,” offensive coordinator Mike McCoy said. “He’s fine. We have no concerns right now. We’re not worrying about it. We’re moving forward.”

Moore said Manning’s well-known work ethic will push him through this season.

“Nobody works harder than him,” Moore said. “On anything. Anything. I mean, his work habits are fantastic. He’ll be successful his entire life at whatever he does. Because of his work ethic and his dedication and his commitment to what he’s doing.”

When he was asked whether the Broncos had the potential to be as potent as the Colts were under his stewardship, Manning demurred.

“I’m not doing the comparison game to the other offenses,” he said. “I think what we’re trying to do right now is form our identity. And I don’t think that necessarily happens over 14 practices in May and June. I do think over training camp and into the preseason, I think hopefully we’ll get a feel for the things that we really do well.”

Manning’s arrival has had its anticipated ripple effect on offense and defense, with receivers no longer rounding off their routes like they sometimes did with Kyle Orton or Tim Tebow and defensive backs learning not to give away the play call with the slightest twitch.

Manning was picked off plenty in his first offseason in Denver, which should be a good sign for Broncos fans, because if the defense is stout, there will be less pressure on Manning to put up crazy numbers to keep up.

The Broncos think their secondary will be a big help to Manning.

“I think it goes both ways,” star cornerback Champ Bailey said. “I don’t think he’s had a secondary, at least on the corner, that’s been this good. So, it gives him a good look. And we’ve never seen a quarterback like that around here, so it speaks for itself.”

The makeover didn’t stop with Manning. The Broncos also shook up their front office, saying goodbye to general manager Brian Xanders. They also retooled at tight end with free agents Jacob Tamme and Joel Dreesen and in the secondary, signing free agents Mike Adams, Drayton Florence and Tracy Porter and drafting Omar Bolden following the departure of Andre Goodman and the retirement of Brian Dawkins.

The defensive line was beefed up by drafting of Derek Wolfe, signing of Justin Bannan and the return of Ty Warren, who has missed two seasons with injuries.

Linebacking is the biggest question. Leading tackler D.J. Williams is facing a six-game drug suspension to start the season and a drunken driving trial in August that could add on another four games.

Manning looks in typical form. Way to go Broncos!

Wasn't really happy with Houston's offensive efforts, and special teams sucked hardcore, but I will admit our defense did an outstanding job (even though against a rookie QB) 4 turnovers in a row?? yee-haaw y'all!!!!

There's been quite a few missed calls, as well as a few "bad" calls, but, in my opinion, not all that much worse than the "pro" refs.

Texans were in typical form Sun. First 3 quarters, great defense, decent offense. 4th quarter? trying to give the game away.
Not bashing Manning and the Broncs, but Houston has major problems going into the 4th with a lead.
