A Broomfield homeowner learned the hard way today: a blow torch isn't a safe way to melt ice from a walkway.
The torch set the exterior of the home at 745 Coral St. ablaze at about 2:20 p.m., according to North Metro Fire Rescue.
The only resident was able to escape. The fire that damaged the outside of the home, but firefighters stopped it from spreading inside, according to the agency.
