A Cedar Rapids man is accused of sending a lewd photograph to minor Iowa City girl in October.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, the victim and her mother came into the police department in October to report that 26-year-old Samuel J. Stratton Jr. had engaged in a text conversation with the girl.
Police said that at some point during the conversation, Stratton told the girl he was attracted to her and sent her a photo of his genitals. Stratton allegedly asked the girl, via text message, if she could “take all that?”
When police spoke with Stratton, he allegedly told an investigator he was drunk and didn’t realize who he was texting. Presented with more facts from the case, police said Stratton couldn’t provide any justification for his alleged actions. He also failed to show up to the police department for an interview with an investigator, police said.
Stratton has been arrested and charged with dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to a minor, a serious misdemeanor.
Stratton remains in the Johnson County Jail on a $1,500 cash-only bond.
