So much more difficult to pull this out of a bass guitar than an acoustic

So because someone else has done it before means it diminishes this kid's talent? :-s

Okay....

Okay....

Honestly I could not listen to the other guy`s video entirely (Wooten)...while it takes talent to do this...its not really pleasant for the ear  (For me at least) Unlike the first video

Miyavi's pretty much pioneered this technique on guitar.

~If I'm wrong about this, please tell me who started this. Not slap bass, but guitar. I've been looking but can't find anyone before this.~

Okay....

It doesn't diminish his talent per se as much as the technique itself is not as amazing as it seems. All you need for awesome acoustic-electric harmonics is a properly set neck and fret board. The rest is just pulls and tapping to a very good sense of rhythm.

The thickness of the bass strings require so much more strength in the hands, wrist, and fingers that combining that with rhythm, musicality, and grace just makes it more impressive imo (though admittedly not as pleasant to the ears).

Smoke and mirrors showmanship is just a pet peeve of mine. I don't care how fast you can play your scales/modes/trills or how awesome your autotune is if you can't hold a single note without feeling the need to run it through as many notes as can be squeezed into a single measure.

The kid has a lot of talent but I would not consider him amazing. When he produces something that stirs an emotion other than curiosity then I will be impressed. Of course I'm fairly crotchety these days :)
