A man who was shot in the face about 6 p.m. Monday inside a Kroger grocery store on Indianapolis’ Northwestside has died.
Police say they suspect the wounded man was trying to rob the store and was shot by an employee.
The wounded man, described as in his mid-20s, was taken in serious condition to a hospital where he later died, police said.
Police said early information indicates the wounded man, whose name was not released, was suspected of placing a hard object into the back of a female employee in the store in the 5000 block of West 71st Street, near Georgetown Road.
The man forced her to the office area where another employee fired a gun at the man, striking him in the face. Investigators late Monday did not anticipate any arrest.
Detectives tonight were interviewing employees as the investigation continued.
