It is reminiscent of one of Christianity's most significant relics.

But unlike the Turin shroud, this image of Jesus' face was found on a sock among items of laundry in Kent.

Sarah Crane, from Orpington, was stunned when she hung her laundry out to dry and discovered the face of Jesus staring back at her from a crumpled sock.

Miss Crane was so impressed by the clarity of the face she even built a shrine to the sock.

'I'd left the washing out to dry overnight - and it had probably been sitting there a bit too long when I noticed the face in the sock,' she said.

'I called my boyfriend over straight away - we could both clearly see the face of Jesus in the sock. There is a straight-on face, and a side profile too - we couldn't believe it.

"I immediately took some pictures to show our family and friends - they all thought it was hilarious.

'We think it's a bit of a sign - but for what we don't know.'

Miss Crane said she began making a shrine to the sock, but when she moved it, some of its delicate creases fell away and the image is now not as clear.

'But you can still just about make out his face,' she said.

'Unfortunately, it's not quite good enough to donate to our local church, but our friends have all been round to see it.'

The face of Jesus has previously been spotted on a drainpipe, in a burned frying pan, and even on an ultrasound scan in 2006.

The Messiah's image was also spotted on Google Earth in a field in Hungary, last year.

OK IT'S TIME

FELLOW CHRISTIANS:

If and when Jesus decides to appear it will not be on toast, in the laundry, in your toilet, on your window, in a pastry or on a porn site within a freeze frame image.

You think He doesn't know how jaded we've become with CGI and movie effects? It will be big and it will be unforgettable...or, He may do something as insignificant as speak to you through an online entity at a forum or message board..... :face:

Point being - I'd like to think that Jesus is in all of us in some small way, not in my bowl of Captain Crunch ffs

I saw Jesus last fall. He was trimming some bush on the courthouse lawn.
