Local murder

A 30 year old woman was murdered a few miles from my home after being followed from a convenience store and apparently forced off the road, raped and then beat beyond recognition with a baseball bat. The accused is a local and there is no evidence that they knew each other. According to surveillance cameras, he entered the store shortly before her, left before her, parked his car in a corner of the lot and followed her away. She called a family member to say she was afraid of being followed. It's still not clear why she didn't call 911. Family members went looking for her and found her in a wooded area near her car which was still running and in reverse in the ditch on a rural road.
It has rocked this little "safe" rural community.

The guy was easily found and admitted and led police to the body. Why? Why did he do it? A wife, daughter, sister, friend is gone for no reason whatsoever.

Simple answer is, don't trust anyone, carry a gun, and know how to use it.

The sad part is, it's only going to get worse. Violence and crime sky rocketing go hand and hand with shitty economy. People get desperate, try anything for money, and when they have nothing else to lose, they do anything they want.

One report said the guy just lost his job and his girlfriend kicked him out. Not that it's an excuse but it makes it seem so less random somehow. Or not. But like you say, it's only going to get worse.

I always used to carry a gun for protection. I drink, so now I'm reluctant to carry because I'm afraid I'll drink too much and hurt myself or somebody else for no reason.

I'm leaning toward a taser or at least something like pepper spray.

It's cases like this that make me wonder why we even bother with due process for these sick fucks at all. He did it, he admitted to it, he showed them where he dumped part of the remains and where he was keeping her head, hands, and feet... fuck him. Put him on his knees, draw your gun, and put bullets in his head until he is dead. Better yet, let the grieving mother pull the trigger. Save the taxpayers a shitload of money and don't waste the court's time.

Can't afford a gun or a taser? I find that very hard to believe. You can get a small caliber handgun for less than $200 and a taser is even less.

I guess the better question is: How much is your life worth to you?
