DENVER -- Sunday could've been the worst day of Blake Appleton's short life.

"January 1st, 2008 was when Blake was first diagnosed with cancer," says Miranda Appleton Blake's mother. "It's been exactly four years ago today."

It is an anniversary that no child should have to experience. Blake was diagnosed with a brain tumor, leukemia and now the cancer has spread to his spine.

But on this day, Blake was not worried about the fact that doctors have given him only 6 months to live. He was focused on meeting his hero, Tim Tebow.

Blake is from Tebow's home state of Florida and has followed the quarterback's career since his days as a Gator.

"He did some of his treatments at a hospital in Gainesville, Florida and he was actually excited about it. Blake called it Tebow country," says his mother.

But Blake told his mother a few months ago he didn't want to go through any more chemotherapy because it wasn't working.

"The doctors told us he had 6 months to live," she says.

Blake got a call from Tebow in early December after Tebow heard about Blake's battle with cancer.

During that phone called he told Blake he would try to meet him. But time was running out, so generous people from Florida to Colorado pitched in to get Blake to Denver for the Broncos last game of the regular season.

Blake was picked up in a limo and escorted by two Denver police officers, and was treated to seats in the Fox 31/Channel 2 suite.

But then Blake got the surprise of a lifetime. He got to go on the field for the pre-game warm-ups. He got to see Tebow passing the ball and warming up for the big game.

Then, this little boy from Florida got the opportunity of a lifetime.

Tebow stopped and talked to him, took pictures and signed autographs.

He told Blake, "Nice to see you buddy...you a gator fan?" Blake just nodded his head and smiled from ear to ear.

Miranda told Tebow, "When you all got off the phone, he was like mommy, mommy, text everyone. Tell them I just got off the phone with Tim Tebow. The Tim Tebow." She said Blake has been talking about meeting him ever since he called.

"It is awesome. It is so great to be able to meet him in person," said Tebow.

The meeting left Blake speechless. But his smile said it all.
