You were rear ended. Your rear bumper, left taillamp, and rear doors need to be replaced. There was no damage to any portion of right van side. The accident was in February and the shop you took it too gave it back to you the first week of March. Now, the sliding door is a issue? No, its not idiot, cause its not related to your accident. Some of the vans have right and left switches to disable the automatic doors, we turn them off to avoid smashed fingers and burning out the motors, breaking cables trying to get the door to stay half open. the guy is looking for a freebie. its a cargo van, he uses it for deliveries. the sliding door is damaged from use, not the accident. but this asshole was looking for something from day one. when I wrote the initial estimate he point to damage to the left van side. a large scarp on the lower portion and said it was related. I told him to kick rocks as he was hit dead center of the rear of the van. I point out the bumper is the shape of a V and the damage to the doors are high. the scrap on the side isn't related. guy is a plain asshole

Last night some cowardly thieves broke into the two houses beside us.They got into one guy's garage, stole tools and then smashed the windows in both vehicles and took dvd's and the gps systems.They got into the other neighbor's garage as well, she wasn't home.

I got really pissy at that point and said - Oh really? How long will it take a car to get here if I was to call last night? Try and be honest..10 minutes, 15...20?????

Then my Dad had to calm me down, I had to get to work and it was probably lucky as I didn't care for the cop's implication.I wasn't talking about using a gun but I was talking about defending two people in their late 70's (and myself) when there was an intruder on our property.

A few robberies have occurred around here within the past 6 months. Lucky for the robbers, the homeowners weren't around at the time. Georgia is a "stand-your-ground" state, which means if some idiot starts shit with you on the street, you can beat the ever loving shit out of him and claim self-defense. If someone breaks into your house, you can use lethal force and kill them in defense of yourself, your family, and your property... just make sure they're IN your house.

I have a spot on my commute where there's a long light, the beggars walk out and down in between two lanes of traffic holding signs.

I realize that some of them have mental problems and perhaps other reasons for not working....but when I see an able bodied guy who can obviously walk and hold his hand out, and spell words on a sign correctly, my sympathy stops.He can come and slave with me at my work.

Besides, in my example when the light turns green, these guys gotta beeline off the street in moving traffic and that pisses me off after their little saunter down the street.

Wow, missed Hal's post from yesterday. Crazy story, very scary. Glad you're ok and the cops didn't work you up too much.

In some ways our laws are good. Sometimes we hear bad stories from the south about people being blown away for trespassing or crimes where the vigilante punishment just doesn't add up.

But up here, your rights to defend your property seem too limited :wha: I feel just like Hal. Honestly... if someone has the audacity to break in while my family is vulnerable and sleeping: they should be prepared to be beaten or run. Courts should accept that with discretion.

I haven't talked to my mom in quite awhile and we don't really get along with her much anymore, but I figured I would be nice and make yet another gesture to try and patch things up. With this Sunday being Mother's day, I figured I'd send her flowers. So I go to the florist website (proflowers.com) and find something nice and it even comes with 25% off the listed price (arrangement was just under $60 and it was on sale for just under $40...seems like more than 25% to me, but whatever). However, after clicking on that particular arrangement, the vase for it is an addition $20 (not listed on the page with the actual flowers) and then another $10 for a delivery fee. Not to mention the tax on it. Total cost....back up to the original price :x

Yikes! I had so many fillings as a kid I swear I'm 5lbs heavier just because of all the metal in my mouth. I hated dentists and guess what I had as a job whilst in College...cleaning a dentist's office!

It was the 80's and they didn't dispose of a needle properly. it pricked me. Thus, I had to go for a battery of AIDS tests which weren't fun, let me tell you. And, because of that, I got retested a few years ago, and was finally given the all-clear.

This is true. My father in law a few years ago was deluded into thinking he was going to hit the Reader's Digest jackpot so one year we had piles of gifts from him from all the crap he bought -- CDs full of "the hits of Simon and Garfunkel as interpreted by Schlemiel and Shecky", a little crappy Shortwave radio that picks up nothing - that type of thing. Apparently the more junk you bought the more entries you get in the grand contest. He spent almost all of his extra cash on this...and zero payoff. RD kept sending him encouraging letters like "you're shortlisted now" etc. etc.

They are so trusting - almost like children in life and on the internet. All the brothers and brothers-in-law had an intervention-like talk with him about being so trusting...now he gave up his PC and has a Mac that's been really locked down from where he can surf!!

I come home from work and there's a note that says the site he usually plays games online at won't work anymore (it's a flash based site). He said he was using it, PC froze, he rebooted and flash was suddenly gone. :wha:

We have separate accounts on that particular PC so that I can get in and fix things if need be and my side won't get compromised. It took me an hour of resetting everything back to defaults, cleaning up the cache (it took Ccleaner 15 minutes to search through all the temp files and junk he had accumulated!) and then I cleaned up the registry. Had to then uninstall all the adobe products and reinstall them. Finally, flash worked again.

I have no idea what he did, but it was a good one. :|

My dad-in-law insisted I set this up because he drank the kool-aid that my brother-in-law was dishing out about how Macs are superior etc etc. And this one is an ancient, slow one that he wanted to cast off. 2 years ago, I worked with my father-in-law and got him a reconditioned IBM for a steal of a price (less than $200 - employee discount), I added RAM for him etc., but his son convinced him his old Mac was superior. Never mind that I'm a trained tech, and his son is...a senior's centre worker who can't use a computer to save his life.

So, he gave it back to me after having it for 2 years - oh well. Now I have a nice PC for the Mrs.

My dad had those symptoms...he lived with chronic pain because of a back injury courtesy of a car accident. It took the specialists 5 years to figure out he had a hairline crack in his spine. Science finally got Tomography and other bone-probing medical techniques in the 80's to determine what exactly the problem was. Trouble was the "cure" back then (spinal fusion) was equally as painful as the injury and actually made things worse all 'round. They don't do that anymore and for good reason. Unfortunately, my father was one of the Guinea Pigs.

Not only does the person in pain live with it, but all those in the family do as well. So, I hear ya Hal. I've been there.

had a letter through this morning relating to my RTA i had in may 2008 thats still ongoing as i still suffer with discomfort from it.
so i open it up and start reading and it goes blah blah blah, Dr doofus was under the opinion that pain from the resolving whiplash injury (can wiplash last 3 years?:-k ) would settle by the end of April 2011 (in previous reports its been " your injuries should resolve within 12months, then after they didnt he gave me another 6months, then after that he gave me another 18mnths as i'm still suffering and now over the 18months he said i'd be all better in), he stated that it would not be possible to explain the continuation of the pain beyond normal exam and investigations. blah blah blah

then goes on to say that as dr doofus said i should be better now they dont believe i will be able to carry on claiming compensation beyond the 3yrs and 1 month that i have been suffering for. :huh: :-s


to make it more confusing dr doofus is saying that its whiplash, whereas another medical expert, a good dr, has seen me and identified theres a problem in the shoulder joint, i forget the technical name he gave it, and said that i will probably suffer indefinitely from it . . . . . . but which report do they keep using?

Had it out with head of our CSR department today.Typically I get along with her.

We had an issue from January that their department was supposed to handle.I had sent her a number of reminder notes to get the process done.
Today the fecal matter hit the oscillation.

She has the gall to try and put me in a bad light with a few manager's names on the email, implying that I had missed something.

I spent an hour searching for notes on the subject, copying and pasting and just finished crafting a note that absolutely hung her and caught her in the lie.
I know all of the members of her staff and now they're warning me that she's furious and will 'try and burn me.'

One of these days, I'm gonna grab a bag and gather the fresh dogshit off of my lawn, follow the violator home to make sure I know where they live, and put the dogshit in their mailbox with a note saying "You left this at my house. I figured you'd want it back since the law says you have to clean it up. Don't leave your dogshit on my lawn again. Clean up after your animal, asshole."
