GREENACRES — A 38-year-old woman was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early Friday on charges with having sexual encounters with her friend's 15-year-old son.
Diane Prater, of South Dorchester Drive, was arrested on 19 counts of lewd and lascivious battery.
The alleged victim and his mother went to Greenacres Department of Public Safety headquarters Thursday and told police that the 15-year-old was being molested.
The teen told police that Prater, his mother's friend, had sex with him at least 19 times, Greenacres Police Capt. Gina Abbananto said in a statement released on Friday.
Prater was apprehended without incident and admitted to having sex with the teen at her house multiple times, according to the statement.
Prater is being held in jail without bond.
In late November, Francisco Lopez Calderon, also of South Dorchester Drive, was arrested on similar charges.
Greenacres police say Calderon grabbed a 12-year-old girl while she was riding her bike in the Pickwick Park West development — where South Dorchester Drive is — and took her into a nearby trailer.
Police say Calderon, 24, sexually assaulted her and then let her leave.
The victim told police she had seen Calderon in the neighborhood but didn't know him.
He, too, is being held in the county jail without bond on charges of kidnapping a child under 13 years of age with the intent to commit lewd or lascivious molestation, and lewd and lascivious behavior on a victim between the age of 12 and 16.
On Friday, Abbananto said the two cases appear unrelated.
She said they are "two different situations" as the alleged victim in Calderon's case was not familiar with her attacker, and the alleged victim in Prater's case was.
