It pays to be the daughter of a celebrity.

Jane Carrey, Jim Carrey’s 24-year-old daughter, who is heading to Hollywood on the hit show American Idol, was not treated just like any other hopeful RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

Unlike the rest of the contestants who camp out for days in the hope of trying to convince the judges that they have what it takes, Jane got special treatment.

“She didn’t have to sleep outside and wait for hours hoping to audition like everyone else,” a source exclusively told RadarOnline.com. “She basically had an appointment and showed up!”

The source said they doubted if the judges knew about the special treatment Jane was given, but the show gave her the VIP service.

“Her audition was pre-arranged with the producers. She did not wait and line up for hours or days outside – she had a time, she showed up and went in,” the source said.

Jane, who is Jim’s daughter with his first wife, Melissa Womer, said in a videotaped story that being the child of a world famous A-lister isn’t always easy.

"It was definitely fun growing up with him as a father, he's not the most extravagant celebrity so it's been fairly normal -- fairly. Everyone growing up has their issue with identity and trying to find themselves," she explained. "It is difficult kind of growing up in the shadow of something and trying to find your place in the world under the huge shadow.

“The last name definitely helps and hurts, I feel like there's kind of this pressure to maybe be better, because if I make it somewhere, I run the risk of people saying 'Oh you only got there because of this.'"

According to the source, the last name clearly helped this time: “American Idol always says they don’t give everyone favors, but this time they did for Jane.”

The famous child has the full support of her dad, who pumped up his daughter’s appearance.

“I can’t wait for the world to understand what she has," he said. "Way to go. Oh my god this is going to be an exciting year."

What special treatment did she get? Didn't she have to try out? I'm sure if Jim Carey wanted special treatment he'd just call Puffy and say "Give my daughters tape a listen"...

She had an appointment and went right in to see the judges while the unclean masses had to camp out in line, go through multiple staff/preliminary judges just for a chance to maybe see the main judges. You think that's fair? :-s

I've read it's hours of waiting to try out in community halls and malls and even then, you may not get heard when the judges are in your respective town....I guess there's a lot of cuts we don't see on TV.(or in my case, NEVER see on TV as I don't watch the show)

Yeah, it's Jim Careys daughter... Fuck the freak show out front.. If I was worth $100 million dollars my kid wouldn't sleep in that Occupy wallstreet encampment either..

Then why even fuck with American Idol? Like you said, he's got enough pull to get her a recording contract all by himself, she doesn't need to go on the show. But if she wanted to be on the show, then she should have gone thru the same bullshit as everyone else.

It's been the #1 rated show every year ever since it came on the air, I don't think they need to boost their ratings

That there is part of what's wrong with our world today :| I think it's good to have a show about amateur singers trying hard and getting a break, but Idol sends a bad message. It's a popularity contest as much as it is about talent.Clarkson is about the only one I can think of off-hand that's actually put out more than one album.

Oh I agree, once it is taken out of the judges hands and the country gets to vote, it's a pure popularity contest. That's what's wrong with it....the judges usually pick a decent 12 but from there on out, it's 13 year old girls doing all the voting, so the really deserving ones get voted off early. That's why there hasn't been a decent winner since Carrie Underwood. Her, and as you mentioned, Kelly Clarkson are the only two real superstars that were actual winners of the show.

I also feel sorry for the 'less attractive people' with good voices.Sure, they'll let the odd big black girl or guy through but if you have kind of an off-face or a strange style, they seem to punt those people first.

When I listen to a really good singer, I couldn't give a rosy rat's ass about how they're standing or if they're making weird faces.

This I agree with. I think it's one of the reasons music was perhaps a bit better before MTV and such. When you only heard a singer on the radio, it didn't matter what color they were or what they looked like.

Yeah I forgot about her being an alumni of Idol...I think she's a better performer and more successful than Clarkson...or Aiken  Very attractive as well.

I still think my point stands.Out of all the seasons, Idol hasn't produced many stars with longevity.Supposed to be chosen from the nation's best...I believe that there's far more talented folks out there that never will be heard in any venue.

True....it will be interesting to see who ends up with the higher ratings at the end of the season, The X Factor or American Idol

I just happened to be flipping channels and saw her audition. She's fine, she can carry a tune but nothing special. The first thing I said was "Oh jeeze, I wonder if she waited in line with the peons"

Just a ratings grab

As I understand it (Not paying attention to be honest) X Factor didn't do nearly as well as Simon thought it would. Which I guess is why he's axed 3 of the 5 judges already. I don't watch either show, not even when my cousin was on it in 2009.

Jim Carrey's daughter Jane was knocked off American Idol Wednesday night, which ironically marked the beginning of Hollywood week.

Jane -- who in a pre-taped video story said that it's difficult growing up in the "huge shadow" of her A-list dad -- delivered a spirited version of Creedence Clearwater Revival's Looking Out My Back Door, but it was not enough to compel judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson to advance her in the competition.

"I freaked out when I was there, so I was really, really shaky and I know I can do way better than that," the 24-year-old said, sobbing, after she was ousted. "And so I'm really disappointed with myself."

Following the defeat, she said her dad was comforting, telling her, "I've been said 'No' to a bunch of times.”

Jane added, “And it worked out well for him in the end, so hopefully I have a shot.”

Jane, who has an infant son named Jackson Riley Santana, initially impressed the judges last month with her rendition of Bonnie Raitt's Something to Talk About, getting the ticket to Hollywood.

Fun fact: Jim wasn't kidding when he told his daughter about hearing the word 'No': He was considered to play the lead role in 1986's Ferris Bueller's Day Off, but lost out on it to Matthew Broderick, his co-star in 1996's The Cable Guy. Other young actors who were considered for “Ferris” include Johnny Depp, Rob Lowe, John Cusack, Tom Cruise, Michael J. Fox, and Robert Downey, Jr.
