Losing his battle with colon cancer, Mark Aulger of Texas had a dying wish for his eight-months-pregnant wife Diane.
"Mark said, 'I'd like to see the baby,' " Diane, 31, tells the Associated Press.
So Diane had her labor induced two weeks early and on Jan. 18 gave birth to their third child together, daughter Savannah.
In his hospital bed, Mark cradled the baby for 45 minutes and "cried, and he just looked very sad," Diane says.
Three days later, Mark slipped into a coma, and two days after that, he died at age 52.
"I brought her home the night before he fell into the coma," says Diane, a resident of The Colony, north of Dallas. "It was just me and Savannah when he passed away."
