A 32-year-old Canton man posing as a 20-year-old sent nude photos of himself to two Macomb County teen girls and threatened to tell one of the girls’ parents if she did not send nude photos of herself to him, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
The man may have had contact with other area teens and the Macomb Area Computer Enforcement team is continuing to investigate.
The man, Taylor Best, was arrested at his home Wednesday and arraigned today at 42-1 District Court in Romeo on six charges, including extortion and accosting children for immoral purposes, the sheriff’s office said. Bail was set at $250,000.
The sheriff’s office received a complaint from the parent of a 16-year-old in Washington Township in 2011. Taylor had sent explicit, nude photos to the girl and made unwanted contact through Facebook and texting, the sheriff’s office said. He said his name was “John Simmons” and that he was 20 years old.
Investigators then identified a second victim, a 13-year-old Bruce Township girl; Taylor threatened to tell the girl’s parents if she did not send him nude pictures, the sheriff’s office said.
Officers from the enforcement team, the FBI, Canton Police and Michigan State Police arrested Taylor at his home, which was also searched, and evidence was seized.
