In 2007, then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi criticized rising gas prices under the Bush Administration and announced committee hearings to 'do something' about the cost of gas.

Gas prices have increased 83 percent since Obama took office.

I understand gas prices are higher than ever but I feel that often used quote is misleading. If memory serves me well I think gas prices were high during much of bush's reign, prices dropped significantly shortly before his leaving office (more than $1/gal?). So technically while 83% might be accurate from the moment Obama took over if you took an average during Bush's time and an average for Obama's time the % increase would be much, much lower.

Not a big fan of Obama here but I'm sick of all the political twisting of everything so it fits the agenda of the person/party spouting this BS.

This shows a historical price history but ends at the beginning of 2012. Gas is up over 10% this year and it's barely just begun.
