A 28-year-old man has been arrested on accusations that he placed three phone calls to 911 in which he claimed he overdosed on Viagra, reports the Sun Sentinel in South Florida.
When the prank caller made the calls on Jan. 16, he pulled a boner: He used a cell phone and wasn’t at the Oakland Park home where he claimed to be.
But deputies played back the 911 calls to the homeowner, who recognized the caller’s voice: The voice was that of his daughter's ex-boyfriend, Matthew Wade Douglas Jr., who used to reside with the family.
According to the Sheriff’s Office:
Douglas used a cell phone to place three obscene calls to 911 on Jan. 16. He gave dispatchers a false name and said he needed medical help because he took too many Viagra pills, reports the Sun Sentinel.
During the calls, he explicitly described the effect the pills were having on him, even claiming his wife was trying to help him by performing a sex act on him.
Douglas said he was at the home. But when deputies and paramedics arrived at the house, its occupants said no such call was made from there.
Dispatchers received two additional 911 calls from the same caller. Emergency responders visited the home a second time, and those at the home again said they weren’t responsible for the calls.
A few weeks later, detectives returned to the house with recordings of the 911 calls and the homeowner identified Douglas. Deputies determined Douglas wasn’t married, but didn’t immediately find him because he had no listed current address.
On Feb. 24, deputies learned Douglas was jailed on unrelated charges of disorderly conduct and violating a municipal ordinance for having an open container. He then was additionally charged in connection with the hoax emergency calls.
