Two things I want to know....when they did the canon ruse and when the church was hit by lightning in the Vatican killing those people...

did those two events happen?

Why did Cardinal Rovere kill the boy that offered to kill the Pope?

I think he was trying to build his resistance up to the drug...so that perhaps when he became the official taster he may survive the poisoning attempt?

I never thought of that :-k

I've done some reading on the actual history of the family...."sister did brother, father did daughter, father did son's girlfriend"....orgies at the Papal palace

Oh MY!

You'd think that the canon instance would be easy to find if King Louie actually was fooled during that war effort into Italy...

King Charles was the King of France at the time

this is from a history site talking about when the King of France went south, then retreated north to return home...

"Returning to France, many of them, Charles included, took back another legacy from Italy - syphilis."

I loved when Cesare killed Sforza after he kept insulting his family

The history books reinforce the story that Cesare was madly in love with Lucretia....to the point they had sex often and without shame in between her various marriages

They have definitely hinted at that in the show, but that's as far as they have gone so far

What I like is that the show is straying from the accepted history of the family. That way, if you read about one of the historical events...you may or may not see it on the show.

Yeah, I really like the way they have done the show, it's part real history and part writers fantasy. It's a good mix of the two

That monk (the one who preaches in Florence, not the cardinal guy) who hates the Borgias is based on fact

You know, the Catholic church would be a lot more fun if the Papacy was run like it did when the Borgia's ran it
