BEAUMONT — Investigators say a Southeast Texas woman who allegedly was upset to get only a card and flowers for Mother's Day has been accused of killing her boyfriend.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says 20-year-old Paige Parkerson of Beaumont was arraigned Tuesday on a murder charge. A booking official had no immediate information on bond or an attorney for Parkerson.
Police say 22-year-old Clifton Barkin was stabbed and died at the couple's home. Parkerson was arrested early Monday after calling the victim's mother.
Evetta Wright told the Beaumont Enterprise that she took her son Sunday night to buy flowers and a card. Wright says she believes Parkerson expected a more expensive gift, like jewelry.
The couple's two sons were asleep at home during the incident. Both are now with relatives.
