Easter Island is one of those places I'd really like to visit someday, I think it would be cool as fuck to see those things close up.

Yeah I read the link and looks very legit...I just can't believe that with all of the people trying to figure out how the heads got on the island, that no one has discovered this before.

Maybe that's the only way they could get them to stand up... OR... maybe they didn't bury them at all. Maybe that's just how things turned out over time.

I have a wee bit of geophysical background...if they were created between 1250 and 1500 AD, that's only about 500 - 750 years ago. Layers of earth would only comprise approximately 5 inches to one foot over that time with erosion and other normal elements.


Those things look to be about 20 feet tall :shock:


Unless it was some catastrophe like an earthquake or volcano....but that wouldn't explain why the heads are visible and how they're so uniform. Very puzzling indeed :-k

I remember seeing that movie Rapa Nui and the theory in the movie was that they were created in quarries on that island and then the natives used a system of wooden rollers and fruit peelings to move the statues (heads only in the movie).
