A substitute teacher in Prince William County was arrested Tuesday and accused of exchanging inappropriate messages with a student, police said.
Richard Earl Teller, 28, of Haymarket, is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old female student at Brentsville High School, where Teller was also a basketball coach.
Police said the communications began in February; there was no physical encounter between Teller and the student. Investigators did not specify the nature of the messages.
Teller has been charged with taking indecent liberties with a minor by a custodian and the use of a communication system to facilitate certain offenses with a minor.
