First post of thread:


Most of the members here at Teh Basement met on a different forum.It was based out of Britain and folks from all over the world came to visit.At one point it had over 50000 members, which is no small feat for any internet forum.

Unfortunately the forum has been closed and from what I understand the administrator did everything he could to try and save it. :(

I personally spent 5 years there...it was my first forum and I had no idea how forums worked or what the protocol was for chatting with strangers.I was very intimidated to say the least.

People have left Anothersite for various reasons...their personal lives changed, they grew out of it, or perhaps they had a disagreement with a fellow member (nooo hal, that doesn't happen on the net does it???!!! :lol:)


For whatever reasons, that chapter in life is now closed and it's time to turn the page.


Please feel free to reminisce, maybe describe how you met someone at AS or relate an event that sticks in your mind.This isn't a place to rehash bad times or arguments...I thought some of us could make a post or two about the good times.

Thanks dm for Anothersite, it got me through some lonely nights and literally opened up the world to me.In that spirit, I look forward to making Teh Basement my new home and having the same or better experiences here :tup:

I came to AS because my boyfriend at the time posted pictures of me (without my knowledge) and then told me about it later because some members had their doubts and asked him to prove it, so he wanted me to make a fansign (Mugzy was the first, I think). It didn't take long for me to create my own account. I quickly learned how nice the regulars were, and how welcome they made me feel. I then started posting regularly. I really enjoyed the people and the escape from real life. Everyone was so nice and I didn't have a problem with anyone really, other than a couple of stalkers.

My boyfriend and I broke up and I ended up keeping AS in the split, though he and one of the girls he cheated on me with still lurked there for I don't know how long.

Despite that drama, some deep friendships started to develop and moved outside of AS and have grown everyday since then. Friendships that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

I eventually stopped visiting as frequently. Things were happening in real life that kept me away for long periods of time. I wasn't posting much at all when the site went down, but being that all of the pictures in my basement thread were from SR, they just vanished and that was a bit disappointing.

After I moved and got settled into my new job and place a bit, I started posting again, but it wasn't the same. It was like a ghost town over there. I started getting invites to this place and I eventually came to take a look the other day. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many familiar faces here. I think I might have to stay a while. :grouphug:

That's OK, AllSmiles. Life occasionally encroaches on my wonderfully wasted time here sometimes too, as I'm sure it does for most other members. I was on a mini-break from AS (enforced when da boss was barking out new directives for my job) when all the kerfuffle happened and I was quite bewildered by all that happened so fast.

But, relaxed as I was over at AS, I find myself even more at home here somehow.

It's nice to hear that the vast majority of you ex-ASers are enjoying it here, obviously without AS this site wouldn't have existed and Lance, Jay and myself probably would never have crossed paths. All good things come to and end though as they say, things change and time moves on. The timing of AS closing down was freakily strange, we'd barely got this site opened when it happened (conspiracy theorists - i swear we had nothing to do with it :tinfoil: :lol: ).

Everyone here has a lot to thank anothersite for :)
