View Full Version : Worst thing you have ever eaten?

I would have to say the worst thing I have ever eaten (and in fairness, I wasn't told what they were until I tried them) were Rocky Mountain Oysters.

They don't look too bad if you don't know what they are:

But here is what they really are (if you already don't know): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Mountain_oysters

And here they are raw before cooking:

Raw oysters are right up there for me... I used to work in a restaurant in a resort that shared its kitchen with the fine dining cooks. They always had some crazy shit cooking up... it was like eating cold snot

I stayed at a B&B in Bristol (UK) once that said on a sign "Go past this sign, you pay!" "Free Breakfast tomorrow morning!!" "no guests!" "No refunds after 5 minutes".

When I awoke after sleeping on the lumpy mattress, in my 1 room flat with only a sink and a bed, and a light, we all went down to the basement and they cooked us breakfast.

I felt like I was in a 70's colour TV...it's like someone turned down the colour setting...the sausages were grey, the bacon, only slightly red/black and the eggs weren't very yellow in the yolk, and the egg white looked grey as well.

I tried everything just a little bit...but it all tasted the same...like everything was left in the freezer for 2 years and all of it had that bland "nothing" taste to it. I went out back and puked and then insisted we go somewhere for a big lunch.

Godfather

Ahhh that's nasty Noilly

The reminds me of my trip to the UK. Had "bangers and mash" in a really oddly plain restaurant. It was too dark in there and I had to go swimming in the gravy to find the sausage and potato. It was disguasting, cold and I felt like I was going to die for hours.

For me, it's not the texture, it's the taste!

When I was young, I frequently would get a bloody nose in the summer due to the Southern California dryness. The taste of blood iron after years of enduring what I endured, just makes all liver products repulsive to me!

Taste can evolve. You just need a more curious attitude and bravery to go ahead and explore the tastes of the world. So as to not make it boring, but something that gives you more than your daily energy.

Battered and fried rocky mountain oysters. They really weren't bad when I was eating them but after I found out what they were, it was pretty disgusting.
Plus the fact that my bro in law gave them to me and said they were "beef" then waited until we were at work the next morning in an elevator full of coworkers and said "guess what she ate last night".

This is what I mean when I say that people need to have an open and curious mind to food too. If they can experiment and do new things in other areas in life, why not with food? Like in this case too, you did not know for sure what you were eating and you did not spit it out, but said it was not that bad. So why it all the sudden becomes disgusting if you find out what was in it, when you obviously were able to eat it just fine. I don't get it.

a tip (http://www.biggerloads.com/semen-taste/)
Veggies can make it hard to swallow

and fruit has been found to make the semen sweeter too..particularly citrus

idk...my sperm still tastes the same whether I eat chocolate cake or oranges...

I knew what they were when I ate them (tons of farming relatives) and that flavored my opinion on the dish. Can't help human nature....even if a big cockroach tastes delicious cooked, the mind somehow 'flavors' it when it recognizes what the source is.

I had rabbit stew once...it was quite tasty and filling. But part of me felt sorry for little Fluffy as it's not a normal dish in our culture.Unless you're living off the land and trapping etc.

If it makes you feel any better, I was the youngest for 12 years, my older siblings bet me to eat many things... soap, deodorant, errr... dog treats... explains a bit doesn't it? Anyway, sister told me she had frog legs left over in the fridge (shortly after I moved south) and try them... turned out it was fried okra, now fried okra scares me 8-[

I think steamed until soggy carrots are even worse.

I had me a real southern meal - in N. Carolina

I had Beans and Fatback. Beans with deep fried....fat! Kind of like Kentucky Fried Chicken without the chicken - just the coating. Loved the flavour but what it must've been doing to my innards!! Came with Collared greens and grits.

After a couple of days of nothing but the local cuisine of fried everything, I was craving salad but then they smother it in sauce and bacon bits. Most unhealthy place I've ever been to.

Noilly, I saw you post in this thread yesterday. I was about to come in here and say you must be a really picky eater to hate everything you eat everyday.

Celery. I love vegetables but the stringy texture and the taste of celery brings me to a nauseated state.
