Hello,
I hate Windows 7 because of the lame USB transfer speeds when using a flash drive. No, it is not my imagination, it's well documented on the internet. Some flash drives work fairly well, some delay a transfer of 2 gigs or more by 5 extra minutes...

That being said, I found a couple of good drives and wanted to let you know about them.

16 gig Mushkin Mulholland flash drive - Good transfer speeds and no crap software on the drive.

16 gig Corsair Voyager USB 3.0 flash drive - Rubber coated and slightly larger than a regular flash drive, this one is my fastest by far using the 2.0 interface.

16gb Sandisk Cruzer Blade........... slow as shit  Rarely use it now thanks to the WD Live media player which streams movies straight from the PC to TV now :D

Oh fuck I thought it was my imagination/computer that made my flash drives slow as shit

Good to know it's just Microsoft's grand scheme

I have a Sandisk 8gb one that's slow, and a Lexar one that's slow, and a couple other random ones that are slow... I lose these things like nobody's business though.

They all start off roaring and then mine get stuck on '5 seconds remaining'.... for about 5 minutes.

I find anything over 2 gigs slows down quite a bit and most of my movies are over that.

Seems to affect some users and others have no problems.

Getting back to USB ....

I have many from 1gb, 2gb, 4gb, 8 and 16. Almost all of them slow as shite...1.0, 2.0...doesn't matter.

Only fast one is one I've just got from The Source (or Radio Shack for the US of A'ers) is a 16GB for $9 and they told me really fast - which it is...looks like a blue growth about 1cm out of the PC. Allows me to use my netbook as an Android tablet with x86 Android running off the USB. Kinda Kewl.

I always think that the big names will be faster.

I've had or have:

Corsair
Mushkin
Verbatim
Sandisk
OCZ
Kodak
Lexar
HP

The OCZ Rally drives (I've had 2) work fast...The Corsair, Mushkin and Kodak drives work at above average speeds. Disappointments for me were the Verbatim, Lexar, Sandisk drives....the 'big names' in flash drives seemed to suck

Surprised with the Kodak and HP drive speeds.
