I'm used to seeing it in bits and pieces, but I finally found a decent copy of it on YouTube that allows you to enjoy all, or almost all of the performance. Catch it before YouTube gets wise.

This was broadcast a year before I was born...

OK - I'll play along...Stuart Sutcliffe, the original bassist died 2 years prior. Original drummer Tommy Moore was replaced by Pete Best, who was then replaced by Ringo Starr (aka Richard Starkey). John Lennon accidentally replaced himself.

Didn't they play Shea Stadium in '65?

Or was that the Stones?

You're right - they played it on August 15, 1965. They reportedly paid a fan who had a decent reel to reel machine hooked up to the main mix a pile of cash for his tapes, which George Martin cleaned up and released a little while back.

The Stones did play there, but not until 1989.

Watch after 27:30 - John goes mad on the Vox organ.

Is it just me or does George bear an uncanny resemblance to Spock's dad.

I watched that show! Mama knew who they were before I did and she made it a point to watch the show that night.
