A Nathalie couple, 23-year-old Richard Dale Culley and 22-year-old Tammy Ann Hudson, face two felony charges of child neglect and two misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor after two toddler girls, ages 2 and 3, were found wandering on Acorn Road in Nathalie July 11.

According to Halifax County Sheriff’s Capt. David Martin, deputies responded around noon to a report of two partially clothed and unsupervised toddlers wandering on Acorn Road.

Martin said a woman who works for a home health agency was outside her client’s home when she spotted the girls in the road and rushed to stop traffic before bringing them into the residence.

When deputies arrived on the scene, Martin said they checked a nearby mobile home, located about 100 yards away, where the door was open.

After several knocks on the door, Martin said deputies entered the home and found the girls’ parents asleep.

The parents told deputies they had stayed up late the night before and all had fallen asleep together in the same room. They were unaware the girls had left the mobile home.

Culley and Hudson were charged with the alleged offenses that occurred Wednesday, and Deputy A. W. Britton served the warrant the same day.

Authorities said the children were taken into the custody of Child Protective Services Wednesday.

Bit of an over reaction by the authorities. Glad the little kids didn't get hurt, but be realistic...Kids wander out of houses all the time. Always have, always will.
