A special needs teacher at Sonoran Sky Elementary School in Glendale was arrested in Phoenix Tuesday after authorities say they discovered she had sexual relations with a 14-year-old student.
The mother of the victim told police Monday that she found sexual messages on her daughter's phone from 28-year-old Kimberly Ali, said Phoenix police spokesman James Holmes.
The 14-year-old is a student at Sonoran Sky Elementary School in the Pendergast Elementary School District, police said.
When interviewing the victim, police said she admitted she had communicated with Ali via text messages and Facebook emails. When the conversations were looked at, they indicated an inappropriate relationship between the two, Holmes said.
The 14-year-old admitted to several acts of sexual contact with Ali. Online contact began as early as April of this year while sexual contact began July 14 through July 26, police said.
The victim told police Ali gave her presents throughout the ordeal, Holmes said.
Ali is facing nine counts of sex conduct with a minor and five counts of sex abuse, Holmes said.
