FORT WALTON BEACH - A man and woman were arrested when the man, apparently with the woman's help, tried to shoplift two computer hard drives by hiding them in his pants.

On July 28 an Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputy went to the Walmart store on Beal Parkway after a loss prevention officer reported the shoplifting attempt.

The Walmart employee said he saw Teresa Marie Ellis, 23, of Fort Walton Beach, choose two GoFlex Satellite Storage devices valued at $199 apiece and take them to the Men's Department, where her boyfriend was shopping.

The boyfriend, 23-year-old Bryan James Perkins, also of Fort Walton Beach, allegedly removed the shoplifting prevention "spider wire" from the packages and concealed both boxes in his pants.

Ellis and Perkins then left the store without paying for the devices, which totaled $398 in value.

They both admitted to the deputy they took the items without paying for them.

They were charged with felony larceny and face an Aug. 21 court date.
