How did it go yesterday bud?

About like expected. Took an hour to get the router, the stupid sales kid talked him into "the best" one. *Hint: the sales kid was an apple geek*.

Got it back and while he was under the desk plugging it in he turned off the surge strip killing power to everything. Modem takes over a minute to cycle, P4 Dell with 512 RAM takes a lifetime before it's usable.

Meanwhile the two dogs are really excited to meet me and need to be in the same 8x8 room with two desks and other random stuff piled in, three small children screaming, wife screaming at the kids,multiple phones ringing, friend screaming at the wife to get the dogs out and keep the "fuckin" kids quiet....

Finally the computer/modem is booted but there's something wrong with the modem, amber light. Wife- "OH, you must have bumped the bad wire" :-s "I'll fix it"

*turns of surge strip and wiggles everything around*


*waits 5 minutes*

The manual keeps talking about configuring the modem through the apple program but there's no disk, no program. After reading the manual 10 times I finally find one line in tiny print "for PC program must be downloaded at apple.com"

bypass the router get internet access back after changing the PC to auto detect settings, download/install the program, hook up the router again run the app setting passwords etc.

Done. *run for my life* Total time about 3 hours.

Yea, me too. he took the router and overpriced ethernet cable *not included with apple router* to his little desk and my buddy decided he wanted a external drive too to back up his 20 gigs of photos. Once again I tried to get him to get the cheap 320/500 gig one but he was convinced he needed the 2TB $200 one.

We went back to the little desk and the sales kid was gone with another sucker customer. None of the other sales guys would ring us out there so I told my buddy to grab the stuff off the desk and we'll go to the checkout. :mrgreen:

I can tell you firsthand that that's not true, as I worked at a retailer for just a month. Pure commission and zero training is often the case. "Boxtop Sales" we called it, you read the box and did the best you could. I luckily was in my 2nd year of my Computer Info Systems program so I was knowledgeable, but others knew nothing but sales and would scoop customers from me often because they'd tell out and out lies to make the sale.

I would then go to "their" PC and alter their DOS prompt and they wouldn't know how to get it back to normal! (this was in the 286 days).

I was unloading a truck before I went home and the pallet was just a little too far into the truck bed for the fork lift to get a grip on it. So I tried pushing the pallet closer to the edge so I could get it with the forklift. It wasn't that heavy, so it was moving okay, but one of the times I pushed, I must have had an awkward grip or something because I felt something 'pop' in my arm. :wha:

Ow. Yea, usually a "pop" isn't a good thing. I hope it starts to feel better today or it might be time for a visit to the doc...

It has to be something like a tendon or a ligament. It just really hurts, I can move my arm in every motion, it's just that in some positions, it hurts like hell.
