One of the rig bosses drove back to Adelaide to check it out, and seems all is there except one thing. So he's sent it this way. I contacted my office to find out why the missing stuff wasn't sent, as it's vital, not available locally, and I can't do the job without them. Seems our wonderfull sales dept forgot to include them in the quote for the job. Yay!

Yeah, Main jobe here was to replace some 800 amp breakers with some 1600amp ones. This is going to require new copper buss to connect the new breakers to the old points. My wonderfull sales staff neglected to send any buss.

How much money do they waste by sending you there and not having anything ready? How many extra days do they end up paying for? I can't remember a time when you were sent overseas and actually had everything ready to go when you got there.

Well, my company charges anywhere from $2000 to $2500/day for me to be overseas. Usually it's other folks I'm waiting on, in this case, it was my company that dropped the ball. It happens I guess, just pissed as now I don't thik I'll make it home in time to vote.
Being as it's my company's fault (sort of) once the parts that are in country arrive, which should be today, I would expect my company to have to absorb my day rate until the missing bus gets here. There's a bit of stuff I can do to stay somewhat busy: Training with the local rig electrician, going over all other equipment, etc. Busy work type stuff. Also, While I was traveling over here, one of the rig's main generators blew the engine up (1,200Kwatt) so they only have two, and can't drill like that. Once the rig gets a new gen on location, I can help install it and get it working properly. The new gen should be her in about 3 more days.

I had figured to be here about 2 weeks to do the orig job, along with generall checkup. The orig jobwould require the rig to be completly shut down to safely do the modifications for the breakers, which was scheduled to be done during rig move this week. BUt, due to the engine being blown, the rig is down already, so good time to do orig job, but don't have the parts. lol Way I figure is the gen will be here before the buss will, we'll get the rig working again, then they will finish drilling while I wait on buss. It will take the rig about a week to finish up, probably about the same amount of time for buss to get here, then have to work around rig demands to have time to install the breakers.
Since things never quite go as planned, I figure I'll be here at least another 2 weeks or so.

Sure seems like it, didnt leave work till after 8pm last night and tonight could be another late one :suicide: 2 painters both off on holiday at the same time....... fuckin great :|

Went well at the asthma clinic yesterday, apparently since stopping smoking my lung capacity has grown quite a bit already :D Nearly killed myself blowing into the damn machine though, that's tough work :lol: You have to empty your lungs completely......... the nurse says 'keep going..... keep going..... keep going' even although i have no air left :mrgreen: No steroid inhalers or anything though thankfully, doc has told me to hang onto the salbutamol and use it if need be and to go straight to the docs if i get a bad cold etc :) 6 weeks off the ciggies now and feeling better for it :tup:
