It's cool, just a bit tired tbh :) Got a new heater for the car at lunchtime today - popped into the big scrapyard in Perth and they'd just taken delivery of a rear-ended, late model Peugeot 306 estate....... so i yanked out the heater motor and plugged it in to my car, works even better than my old one so i assume the old one mustve been on its way out when i bought the car! Only cost me £20 so not too bad considering the cheapest on ebay for a second hand one was £30+ :)

I'm good, just very busy again. Last year I probably made more after taxes than I even billed in 2011. But I have no idea how long this streak might last so I try and rake it all in while it lasts. Problem is, if I still want to spend some time with the family, everything else needs to be put on hold. Ideally, we can pay back the mortgage on our house until the end of 2015, so it will be no problem to earn less for a while...

How did things go for you? Did you actually buy a house in the end or did you need to come up with a plan B?

It's been the opposite here for me the last few months...since around the beginning of December it's been so slow at work with this month being the worst so far. I have had very little, if anything, to do all month. Makes for very long days.

And yes, everything did work out with the house and we officially took ownership of it in mid-October. Feels nice having my own place for the first time in my life. :)

Thanks....and the best thing is the housing market is starting to turn upwards a bit and interest rates are going up, so I think we bought at exactly the right time.

same here, the real estate market in Berlin and the neighbouring small communities has been mostly growing for the last four or five years. Our house would probably fetch 50% more now than we paid for it five years ago. Apparently the population keeps growing at about 1 or 2 % per year, mostly through immigration of academics from southern europe, and a lot of the wealthy people from the countries around the mediterranean chose to buy real estate in germany because it's a safe haven. I hear they usually come in from Geneva, Zurich or Berne and pay cash...:shock:

Tired...shoveling snow all day yesterday and then I had to shovel when I got to work this morning. We got about 18" from the storm, stopped sometime last night.
