My PC keeps randomly freezing :suicide: Thought it may have been the old HD dying but has now done it twice with the new SSD :wha: Had to switch off at the back, then on startup it froze again on the loading windows screen! Bollocks :x Any good deals on pcs right now? :lol: Ran a diagnostic test via the boot menu, everything turned up ok too :wha:

Tonight, it froze while browsing ebay (trying to buy new ink cartridges :lol: ). Strange thing is i could still open folders, my pictures, music etc but all programs i'd been running were locked. ctrl alt del seemed to take an age to load up the menu screen too :-k Just checked Dell, i bought this on 24/03/2009 and i have a habit of leaving the PC on for days at a time (downloading during the night etc). Might be time for a new one! Not exactly loaded with money atm though :|

I'd do an hdd test on the thing just to be sure. What OS, sometimes reapplying a service pack can help fix f'd up OS issues. Also try the stuff logged on as another user just to rule out an issue with your user profile.

Back up your data and if it doesnt get resolved, just nuke the fker and reinstall everything...unless the thing's pretty damn old, a freshly formatted install will usually fly. No need to buy another machine unless your hardware is old as shit!

It passed the memory test in diagnostics - i also checked the sticks were all firmly in place :-k I dunno :shrug: I can get a similar rig now for under £300........ considering my current one cost me £600 that's not too bad tbh. Been looking at the AMD piledrivers - http://www.freshtechsolutions.co.uk/custom-built-computers.html?computercase=532&cpu_model_number=560 Some decent deals there - better specs and prices than Dell!

Yep, should do me fine :) Was hoping this machine had stopped fucking up since it had been running fine for a few days........ then i did a restart and it went all to fuck! Wouldnt boot from the SSD at all so switched boot sequence to the old drive - that wouldnt load without doing a repair first :roll: Finally got in and now when i check the ssd via my computer i get this:

Sorry, I think that's my fault. I sent a mass email about it and a handful of addresses got kicked back to me as undeliverable, I just assumed they were throw away addresses. I just looked again yesterday and it turns out I had gotten caught up in the automatic spam filter that limits the amount of people I can email at once.

Anyway, Glad I got through to you even if it took a bit longer than it should have!

in the meantime my supervisor dropped a bomb on me this morning...he told me he had tomorrow off, now it's changed to a trip and he'll return Weds next week...

I had a whole bunch of appointments/life things scheduled this week and had to shuffle everything this morning :|
