I don't like my new mouse :|

What flavor?
Teh One Who Knocks

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/wireless-mouse-5000
I don't like the scroll wheel on it
Hal-9000
09-03-2011, 06:19 PM
Does it click when scrolling or feels like it has a drag to it?
Teh One Who Knocks
09-03-2011, 06:22 PM
No clicking, it's a 'smooth' scroll wheel, but I can't get the scroll speed where I want it. It has 40 different setting for the scroll speed, but none of them are right :wha:
It's either too slow or too fast...plus it's a bit 'jumpy'
Hal-9000
09-03-2011, 06:23 PM
Are you using the actual mouse settings or using the Windows 7 mouse settings?
maybe one works better?
*checks to see if Win 7 has the feature*
Teh One Who Knocks
09-03-2011, 06:26 PM
It installed all the MS Intellipoint software when I plugged in the USB receiver
Hal-9000
09-03-2011, 06:28 PM
Could be the problem there...uninstall that crap, reboot, let WIN 7 provide and see if it improves?
Teh One Who Knocks
09-03-2011, 06:29 PM
That's what Win7 installed for it when it was plugged in, I didn't use the CD that came with it
Hal-9000
09-03-2011, 06:32 PM
Go the other way then and try the CD drivers?
I lucked out with my ghetto Logitech keyboard/mouse combo.Plugged in the fob, no drivers installed and they both just worked instantly.
Teh One Who Knocks
09-03-2011, 06:35 PM
Other than the stupid scroll wheel, I like it
Hal-9000
09-03-2011, 06:37 PM
I bought a MS keyboard/mouse combo..wired I think and it sucked.
It needed drivers and once installed every time I hit a key it would delay or repeat letters....tttttttttttttttttttttt like that.
The mouse was ok, but something was fubar'ed with the keyboard for sure.
Teh One Who Knocks
09-03-2011, 06:41 PM
I just replaced my Logitech set-up....I liked it except the mouse wasn't working right anymore. It's like there was something interfering with the wireless signal. That and the scroll wheel was getting all gunked up and wouldn't spin well anymore. I looked and looked but couldn't for the life of me see anyplace to take it apart so I could try and clean it.
I've had MS hardware before and had okay luck with it.
Hal-9000

Hal-9000
09-03-2011, 06:50 PM
 some people freak when they spill liquids on their keyboards and mice...when you take a keyboard apart there's only a small circuit board, some covered wire and the rest is plastic.
*DISCLAIMER*
You could immerse old wired keyboards and mice, once they dried out they worked fine.
Not sure on wireless products but what have you got to lose? If you're going to turf the mouse anyways, give it a bath!
Hal-9000
09-03-2011, 06:55 PM
I'm trying to pry apart my Logitech wireless mouse and can only get the panel off for the batteries..
maybe some extra pressure......

Yeah, that makes since if you try and use it while still wet, but if it's completely dry, I don't see how you can short it out
Hal-9000
09-03-2011, 07:03 PM
One guy says he uses alcohol swabs on the exterior of the mouse...another says don't use anything other than water!...and still another says don't get any liquids inside the mouse
It almost seems once your wireless mouse gets full of gunk, you gotta buy a new one

I bathed a keyboard, turned it upside down overnight and then used canned air to blow it out.It worked fine the next day....
I'd be tempted to agree on the mouse. It's circuits on a board with a few clicky parts within....it's not like you'll have it connected when washing it ffs

Yep, great day out
Got the train from Perth to Glasgow at 8.40am, we were in a group of 9. Went for breakfast at a cafe just off George Square........ full scottish breakfast, bacon, sausage, black pud, egg, tattie scone, beans :homer: Then it was off to the pub (via the bookies), great banter in there  Managed to get a taxi up nearer the ground to another pub about 1pm, few more beers in there then walked up to Hampden. Not the greatest of games tbh but the atmosphere was awesome...... especially when we scored the 2nd goal with only 5-10 minutes left :D .......... and then they cheated to make it 2-2 :( With seconds left we were denied a penalty that was more of a penalty than the one they got :wha:
Anyway, we sat in the stand till most of the others had left then started the long walk back to the town centre just me and dad........ got lucky when i managed to hail a taxi  Phoned one of the others when we were back in the bar near the train station and he met us there........ tried to get the next train but it was mobbed so we went for another beer then a kebab. Finally got on the next train (packed like sardines) back to Perth, had a beer in Perth then got a bus back to our village and had another couple of beers at the local club before staggering home :)

Ghey, deaf guy at worked wanted me to go...I politely declined
I'm literally hanging by a thread right now, too many lost brain cells and lack of sleep.Have to do something positive to equal it out
Don't say "positive" at the guy pride parade, no one will have sex with you.

I'm good thanks. Think I might play golf today. Last day off before the grind returns for school - twice the class load of last quarter plus a week in Atlanta for a residency. Yeek!
Teh One Who Knocks
09-05-2011, 03:17 PM
Atlanta? Do you have to pay for all that yourself?
Yes. Tuition is $1500 plus $1200 for flight and hotel and that doesn't include meals or hookers! :|

I'm thinking so too. There's a webinar about preparing for residency on the 13th so I'll know more then.
But for now I am off to attempt that game called golf - be back in a couple hours, just playing 9 I think.

60 seconds realtime = 1/2 hour man time
3 minutes realtime = one hour man time
5 minutes realtime = all night lovin...
