A 26-year-old Louisville man was arrested early Thursday after police said he pulled a gun on his girlfriend after he shoved a sock in her mouth and she responded in kind.

The incident started at about 2:40 a.m. when Ronald Valentine “took off his sock and forced it into the mouth” of his girlfriend, a Louisville Metro police report said. His girlfriend, who was not named in the report, got mad and tried to put the sock in Valentine’s mouth “as payback,” the report said.

Valentine then got mad, threw his girlfriend to the floor and put her in an “arm bar hold” and told her he wouldn’t let her go until she “tapped out,” the report said.

It said she then poked Valentine “in the butt, causing him to let go.”

Valentine then went into the bedroom and pulled a semi-automatic handgun out of the dresser and threatened his girlfriend with it, the report said.

He pointed it at her and told her “that he would kill her and get away with it too, because he is a veteran,” the report said.

Police said Valentine fled when his girlfriend called 911. When officers found Valentine, he did not have the gun, which was found in the dresser inside the home near Manslick Road and March Boulevard.

Valentine was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and fourth-degree assault.
