Usain Bolt is OUT OF HIS MIND ... at least according to Bruce Jenner ... who doesn't think the Jamaican sprinter was living in reality when he called himself the greatest athlete of all time.

Jenner -- who took home the gold in the decathlon in the 1976 Olympics -- was leaving LAX this weekend when we asked him about the declaration of greatness Bolt made about himself after dominating at the Olympics last week

"He's the best sprinter," Jenner said ... adding, "He can't pole vault, he can't throw anything ... that's an athlete."

Jenner made it clear ... he believes decathletes rank the highest when deciding "most athletic" ... and when asked if Bolt would be able to compete in his sport, Bruce didn't hold back ..."He would be terrible."

He does have a point, although it could be argued that decathletes could do more to be labeled the "greatest athletes ever".

I agree...Bolt is the best sprinter and Wayne Gretzky is the best athlete of all time :thumbsup:

Clara Hughes won a total of 15 medals in different sports, at the Summer & Winter games... that blows me away.

Jesse Owens got 4 gold medals with the entire master race on his tail....gotta get points for that

Carl Lewis won track medals in the World's and Olympics for almost two decades... lets see what Bolt is doing in 10 years.

Steve Redgrave won gold in 5 consecutive Olympics spanning 16 years

Bolt is great but he has to stick around a lot longer to be the greatest

I'd say that a person like this should be considered the greatest Oly athlete for sheer virtuosity
