Windstorm that took out our warehouse wall...

This is a major thoroughfare through our city, our warehouse is very close.We opened our bay doors yesterday and the internal vacuum caused a 40 x 200 foot wall to collapse.The wind, hail and rain attacked us without warning. A local brown guy took this video driving down Deerfoot Trail in Calgary, watch until the end :)

Yeah the supports for those signs are made of the same stuff as streetlamps...about a foot diameter of metal.

It's very strange....we call the road ' The Deerfoot 500 ' because people drive 60 mph and above on it. It traverses a good portion of our city and sees lots of volume usually. I think the wind was so bad, it was actually impeding some cars :lol: My supervisor had left for the day and returned because of our wall accident....he was on the Deerfoot and said the wind was throwing his SUV around...

that's the slowest I've seen people drive on that road.....all of our traffic signals went down too, may have something to do with it

Me and friend piled into a lampost a few years back...it was an old school one :lol: Totaled his Chev pick up and we ripped the lamp post up, rammed it under a parked vehicle.

Imagine a large wall made of gyprock...the bottom becomes unhinged and it's swaying back and forth...the entire wall. Then because of it's own weight, it cracks and chunks of gyprock the size of Lance come raining down.

My supervisor yesterday - EVERYONE! GET AWAY FROM THAT AREA! .......hal? Would you mind cleaning up some of that, don't mind the falling chunks :lol:

I'm right beside the pallet on the left with the forklift and hear this CRAAAAAACK and then a boom.

I look down and notice the wall has shifted..

I walk down to the end of the aisle and see sunlight....:lol: and then the entire wall bows out about 10 feet to the left and starts swinging back and forth...

I walk back up the aisle and some mook from next door pokes his pointy head in through this new opening and screams - One of you guys musta hit the wall with the forklift!!! :x I respond quietly - Fuck off, have you noticed the wind bringing down trees and signs?

Then I heard something, looked up and saw the entire wall cracking and chunks hanging by a thread. Please note all of the polly-filla already on the wall. This has happened before...and will happen again.

Well you have to understand....when this crap happens I have to dump out entire racks full of product. Boxes, packages, pallets...the whole nine. Then I have to move it all physically and in the system, so our order monkeys can access it.

I'm lazy and don't like doing things multiple times....FFS I've already lost the stock the first time I put it in the racks, I don't need to repeat history :lol:

It was hilty'ed down into the ground. Little metal studs...but the physics are all wrong. The wall is too big to fasten with such a ghey method. That's our company, saving money every step of the way!
