Spring Hill, Florida -- A man trying to walk his dog on a neighborhood street was given a scare when someone from a passing car fired a shotgun blast.

When a sheriff's office deputy arrived, the man pointed out the location of the Jeep where the shot came from which was now parked at a home in the 11000 block of Exmore Street. The deputy then searched the Jeep and found four unused Winchester shotgun shells and a 12-gauge shotgun on the floor of the front passenger seat.

While interviewing those at the home, Patrick Murphy admitted he had been driving the Jeep while his girlfriend and two others were with him. The deputy reported Murphy also admitted to firing the shotgun in the air at the intersection of Exmore Street and Cavern Road in order to impress his girlfriend. The deputy then found the used casing from the shotgun at the intersection. Murphy and his girlfriend said they did not know there was a resident in the area walking his dog at the time.

Murphy, 19, was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm in public from a vehicle
