I remember playing it when it originally came out I had a bit of trouble completing it maybe taking around 20 attempts but up to yet I have attempted it around 500 times now I would guess and getting nowhere near getting to the last stretch

At the start was the hardest but let up when you got about a 3rd of the way there but not now :(

I bought Skyrim last night and was hooked as soon as those bastards told me they were going to chop my head off. Then I raped a bunch of bandits in mine before it started getting late.

The graphics are really blowing me away. I'm running it at 1920x1080 resolution (w/ ultra detail settings) on a 60" LED TV :mrgreen:

I use it (Most people do...it can get complicated to remove mods otherwise if you need to)

One for better stars at night, one called the QD inventory that organizes your stuff better and recently installed the build your home mod. All 3 have no performance hits.

Sam is more versed in the other, hardcore mods for graphics and inventory. I believe that he uses a way better inventory mod but that entails installing a special game launcher.

Oh I played around 300 hours without mods...on the PS3 :lol: (I didn't change much of the game...graphics more than anything, so it looks better without taking away the way the game is supposed to feel) Sure, some mods are better to be used after a first playthrough the game like this one: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18997 (Adds new monsters to the game) Since I started modding my game...I just could NOT play without mods anymore (I'd get bored in a matter of minutes :lol: )

SkyUI is a must. Typically the game will sort your crap (inventory) in a long vertical column. Imagine 7 categories of items, all stacked up in a vertical column and trying to look for something. You scroll down for sooo long, your thumb gets injured.

SkyUI or QD Inventory sorts it logically into categories that are horizontal across the screen. I don't run it but regret the fact because of the screenshots I've seen. Vanilla Skyrim inventory is nothing but a trial when you have over 500 things on your person.

I've read about mod conflicts and can't understand how your game even starts up
easy enough...CONFLICT= 2 mods that do the same thing...avoid that and you're good (I know people with over *200* mods and everything runs fine) and yes most of my mods are "graphical"...well some are overhauls of places (Like Whiterun and Solitude) I got a mod that changes all the NPC appearance in the game too. (As I said earlier...I've had my share of the "vanilla" or no mods Skyrim and don't care about it anymore :lol: )

Hey AT I have some ini tweaks for the files in your my games/skyrim folder...the old use notepad to edit scenario...minor things like shadows and trees..

if you want the more hardcore/beauty effects you have dig into the mods....I'm sure Sam has some spare ones he can lend you :lol:

Bethesda just ports the game for the Xbox360 version, the inventory is done for a controller (So it sucks for us, PC users) and why the textures in the game are ugly.

A Destruction Mage wearing only robes on expert difficulty is rough! I had to kill some Giant for an Orc (who was scared) and I got one hit 5-6 times. I ended up kiting the Giant to death. The tried and true method for people with no armor!

A Destruction Mage wearing only robes on expert difficulty is rough! I had to kill some Giant for an Orc (who was scared) and I got one hit 5-6 times. I ended up kiting the Giant to death. The tried and true method for people with no armor!

A PS3 pretty much does what a computer does (But less powerful) Plays games and has a web browser...Which is shit TBH because of the lack of RAM (Won't be an issue with the PS4...8GB of GDDR5) The only thing the console can't do is run external applications.

I had a routine when starting out...go to Riverwood, do the small quest and get Faendal as your follower. Tell him you want to trade stuff and take his housekey (gold etc).

Now you have a home base with a chest and a guy who lugs about 400 lbs of your crap :lol:

WARNING

Leave stuff in his chest for too long and the 'cell' will reset itself and reload the chest with the original stuff, all of your stuff will be gone (something like a month of game time)


Also....Faendal kicked the bucket in a myriad of different ways each time I had him as a follower. One time he died right in Riverwood during a dragon attack...it was awesome :lol:
I couldn't find his corpse so that's when I learned the console command to take me to ______ whomever. It kept warping me to a spot in the river....never did find his actual body that time.

Doesn't look familiar. I'm only up to lvl 22 or 23 at this point. I actually stopped the main story quests and I'm running around doing miscellaneous crap.

I really want to buy the expansion so I can run the "Deadly Dragons" mod. The dragons are fun but WAY too easy. I just hide behind a rock/tree, wait for them to land, then unleash slow time followed by a few dual cast fireballs.

Line of sight > Dragon AI every time.

A month JUST for the main game without the DLC? No big deal IMO (I did the main game in a day remember? ;) )
The only thing that you CAN'T complete is the radiant quests (The game engine will continue to generate new quests for those)

Has anyone seen a dragon go full speed into the side of a hill or mountain and kind of burrow/crash his way along the ground?

What's the best way to increase an armor skill as a mage? I need to spend some traits in heavy armor but the skill is really low.

Should I put on heavy armor and let some bandit archers keep shooting while I heal? That's about the only way I can take hits without dying. If enemies melee me it only takes 1 or 2 hits so that's not really an option.

Every time someone gets within melee range I usually have to run.

Damn, totally forgot I could increase my skill at blacksmiths! I generally hate crafting (especially in bulk) but if it will raise my skill I'll need to get on that.

I tried using Light Armor but my health is so low I kept getting insta-killed by just about everything.

every time I level up I increase health only....never really use the stamina or magic much...


it's a neat game of balances....you'll find something that works eventually between abilities and armor

Now that you have the Dragonborn DLC you need to install the Deadly Dragons mod. You can spawn dragons at will with whatever health/magic levels you want. Dragons finally become a challenge.

It seems every new creature is a bit ramped up in Dragonborn..my archery is at 100 and I have 3 items that add to it and I was still having problems with the odd new monster :oops:

The unofficial patches count as mods ;) My 2 problems with them: They can't make a game without millions of bugs in them (And when they fix somethings they break others: TES, Fallout etc) Why do you think it took 6 months for them to release Dawnguard for PS3? Because they have devs that have no clue on what they are doing and modders couldn't save them. BUT the MAIN hate comes with the story...not finishing it and starting another game is just not acceptable! (Not an issue for a FPS, but an RPG, it is!)

The whole post-apocalyptic thing is getting old IMO...I have 0 plan on getting it (Even more that it killed Skyrim)
With the Elder Scrolls you can mix things up to make it feel different (Snow,grass etc) but with Fallout...always a giant wasteland with guns.

Its a FPS...nuff said :lol: (same could be said for Dishonored...but it uses stealth) Bioshock Infinite is great IMO...because of the ending (Total mindfuck)

Think they care? No they don't...its all about the money. They got TONS of hate when they said they are moving on with Skyrim, did they change their mind because of it? nope. Tomb Raider 2013 - a mini review

The first Tomb Raider games were great. Huge environments and you had to simply move through, across, around them to the other side. I loved all of the earlier versions. Then, a couple of years ago some nimrod says - Hey, let's make it like a 3/4 top down action game and she will kick clay pots ad nauseum so she can get powerups.

:| It was a crappy idea that ruined the franchise IMO

What made TR games great was the ability to move through a 3 dimensional environment attempting death defying jumps and solving massive puzzles.


This latest offering sucks so far....long cutscenes, then a QTE (quick time event involving pressing a button or two when prompted)....then more cutscenes then more QTE's.The opening hour is one long movie that you infrequently interact with on minor levels.

When I finally did get to run around the island in a semblance of free movement, I was again interrupted with movies and QTE's. The graphics are great, the mood is ultra-dark (Young Lara almost dies in the first few cutscenes, welcome to tomb raiding bitch :lol:) but precise, tense gameplay based on your movements is what made this franchise great in the past.

If I wanted to play a movie, I will put in DVD and select scenes and change the camera views dammit! :x

Tomb Raider 2013 improved quite a bit...finally got to do some exploring, mountain climbing. It also has a robust upgrade system for your skills and weapons.

still has the cutscenes every 10 minutes but at least there's good climbing and adventuring :thumbsup:

I used to be able to go in and hit the offline setting in Steam and play my games....Skyrim, MW3 etc. Now if I don't have a net connection or Steam is buggered, I can't boot the game.

Which is why I avoid Steam games if possible. Skyrim was just too tempting to pass up.

But an entire gaming system that requires a constant internet connection? What if it's in my car? What if I don't have internet? It's just silly to me that they'd force customers online to play single player games.

Okay time to revamp my original impressions...Tomb Raider 2013 is GREAT game. Set pieces similar to Call of Duty for fighting, the AI makes intelligent decisions about cover and misdirection....and the environments are HUGE..

Kind of a back handed endorsement, but if you can handle the first 2 or 3 hours of constant cutscenes the game really opens up. Upgrading weapons, skills and experience make it like a RPG adventure game with FPS action.
I've missed hours of things to do while running through the levels at full speed. I want to replay this and I'm not even half done yet :thumbsup:



this is part of a huge area called Shanty town...I can't explain what's going on here as there's a windmill and mining cars moving...it's incredible trying to figure out what to do to 'get over there.'

the tomb areas are optional, which makes it a completely different game than the first 7 in the series....here I dropped into a huge cavern full of blood, limbs, skulls and emerged from the goo like Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now :thumbsup:

I'm currently about 18 hrs into Fallout New Vegas on the 360. a tad disappointed in it tbh. its simply Fallout 3 with longer lever ranking. That's about all I can differentiate between the 2 games.

Will still play it till the end however. as my OCD wont allow leaving a game unfinished! (one reason I'm never playing Skyrim!)

I bought the two expansions and really liked them...lots of extra content and didn't expect to get as many extra hours out of it as I did...

I installed both expansions and I'm about to be in a show down with the wanna be Dragonborn guy. Can't remember his name. Already finished the vampire expansion.

Hated being a vampire so I did the Werewolf story after the Vampire story :lol:

I may get it once the New PC fund is full. my mate has it on the 360 and says the controls are too cumbersome, needs to be played with a mouse for better accuracy!

I want Hitman Absolutions, but that also play's better on PC for better accuracy, I'm happy waiting.

Well fuck me. The drive I use for my OS and games just ate shit. I was able to get everything off EXCEPT my Steam folder. Whatever part of the disk it was on is totally unreadable. All my saved games are now lost to the electronic gods.

Guess I'll have to start Skyrim all over again :D
