Sons of Anarchy actor Jonathan Kendrick Lewis, also known as Johnny Lewis, has been found dead outside a Los Angeles home along with an elderly woman, RadarOnline.com is reporting.

Authorities say officers responding to a report of a woman screaming discovered the body of the 28-year-old actor on the driveway of a home in the Los Feliz neighborhood of L.A., while the body of an 81-year-old woman was found inside the residence.

The woman has been identified as Katherine Davis, who neighbors say routinely rented rooms out to established actors and producers.

"He appeared to have died from some type of fall, either from the stairway, or from the balcony, or from one of the roofs," LAPD Commander Andrew Smith told ABC News affiliate KABC.

"The best we're piecing together now is that it appears that some type of altercation occurred inside of the house resulting in the death of the woman. Then this individual ran outside, had an altercation with a couple of neighbors, ran back into the house and by the time we got here, he had fallen or had somehow died on the driveway," said Smith.

KABC-TV reported that Lewis is considered a suspect in the homicide investigation. A neighbor and a handyman were badly beaten with a piece of wood in a confrontation they had with the suspect.

In addition to appearing on Sons of Anarchy, Lewis had minor roles on Boston Public, American Dreams and The O.C.

His career gained traction when he landed the role of Kip 'Half Sack' Epps, which he played for two seasons of Sons of Anarchy; he also appeared alongside Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart in The Runaways in 2010.

Johnny Lewis -- the man suspected of murdering his 81-year-old landlady Wednesday -- was 6 days out of jail before the killing ... TMZ has learned.

Lewis was released from L.A. County Jail on September 21. We're told he had several criminal cases filed against him at the time of his death.

We do not know the nature of the offenses, but law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the "Sons of Anarchy" star was also recently in rehab.

What's more ... we're told a dead cat was found in the house where Lewis lived with the landlady -- and the home was ransacked. Police are investigating, but Lewis is also suspected of killing the cat.

As we reported ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe Lewis was either on PCP or Meth at the time of the murder. The 2 people who fought Lewis before he fell to his death from a roof told cops the actor exhibited "superhuman strength."

Johnny Lewis -- the "Sons of Anarchy" star who murdered his landlady, dismembered her cat and then fell to his death in what appears to be a drug-fueled rage -- had deep ties to Scientology and its drug abuse program ... TMZ has learned.

We've learned Johnny's father, Michael Lewis, has reached one of the highest levels in the Church of Scientology. In fact, in the 80s Michael co-wrote a movie with L. Ron Hubbard about L.Ron's "discovery" of Dianetics.

Johnny was also active in the Church, especially the drug abuse program -- Narconon. In 2004, Johnny is seen (above) speaking at a substance abuse prevention event in the O.C. on behalf of Narconon. The reason Johnny spoke was because he was in a new show, "Quintuplets," and Scientology posted on its website that Johnny's mother used the principles of Narconon to keep him off drugs, and it worked.

Ironically, it didn't work because -- as we reported -- Johnny was in rehab this year (not Narconon) and eyewitnesses say he was clearly on drugs at the time of the murder.

Interestingly ... after we contacted Scientology about this story, they removed the photo of Johnny from all of their websites as well as the story bout his appearance at the O.C. drug abuse event.

A Scientology official tells TMZ ... Lewis was not active in the Church for several years.

Actor Johnny Lewis, an ex-boyfriend of Katy Perry, wasn't on drugs when he fell to his death, says his autopsy.

The 28-year-old, who appeared in Sons of Anarchy and The O.C., is believed to have killed his landlady and died while trying to escape her home.

No drugs or medication were found in his system, but nail marks and signs of strangulation were found on his neck.

The actor had a criminal record and earlier this year was treated for drug, alcohol and psychiatric problems.

Los Angeles police believe Lewis killed Catherine Davis, 81, during the incident in September.

Neighbours reported hearing a woman's screams and told officers that a man had jumped a fence, assaulted a painter and homeowner and jumped back.

Lewis died on the driveway of the property, but his death has been ruled accidental as there was no evidence that he was pushed or tried to kill himself.

'Concerned'

The actor had been arrested three times in the year before his death.

A probation report, prepared after he attempted to break in to a house, said officers were "very concerned for the well-being of not only the community but that of the defendant".

Lewis was best known for playing Kip 'Half Sack' Epps in the biker TV show, Sons of Anarchy.

He also appeared in nine episodes of teen drama The O.C. in 2005 and 2006.

More prominent film roles included a part in film Aliens vs Predator - Requiem in 2007 and the 2010 movie The Runaways starring Kristen Stewart.

The actor, whose full name was Jonathan Kendrick Lewis, was romantically linked with Katy Perry from 2006 for about 18 months.

It's thought two of her songs, The One That Got Away and Circle the Drain, were inspired by him.
