NICEVILLE - A man who was urinating in his back yard said an intruder beat him with a flashlight and his fists.
On Sept. 28 a Niceville Police officer was called to an Everglade Drive residence and spoke to a man who said he came home from work and didn't want to wake up his wife, so he went into the back yard to urinate before going inside.
He said he noticed someone walking into his yard and crouching.
The man yelled at the intruder, and the intruder began shining a flashlight in his face. Then, the intruder ran at the man and began hitting him in the head with the flashlight and his fists.
The man tried to grab the intruder and chased him down the street. As he rounded a corner, the intruder was gone.
He said his attacker was about 6 feet tall and was wearing a gray wifebeater shirt, gray shorts, and possibly flip-flops.
The victim refused medical treatment. The officer noted a raised, red area on the back left side of his head.
Police are investigating the incident.
