SPRINGFIELD -- Siblings Robert Larrivee, of West Springfield, and Amanda Larrivee, of Deerfield Beach, Fl., were arrested Sunday after allegedly attempting to steal two televisions from bathrooms at Samuel's Sports Bar at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, police said.
Sgt. John Delaney, executive aide to Commissioner William J. Fitchet, said police responded to the scene at 9 p.m. Sunday after a woman who was using the restroom at the bar heard a male and female ripping a television off the wall.
Delaney said the woman ran out of the bathroom when the two weren't looking.
"The witness quickly told the manager what happened and the manager and another employee locked the door to the ladies room so the pair could not escape and police were called to the scene," he said.
Arriving officers opened the door and confronted the two subjects. The pair claimed to be having sex in the bathroom.
After further investigation, officers determined an attempt had also been made to steal the men's room television.
Robert Larrivee, 38, of 84 Nelson Ave., is charged with larceny over $250. A charge of threatening to commit a crime was added after he threatened to beat up an arresting officer, Delaney said.
Amanda Larrivee was charged with larceny over $250.
Both were arraigned in Springfield District Court on Monday.
