DENVER—It’s a new twist in online dating that’s definitely raising eyebrows.
It’s called “WhatsYourPrice.com” and it promises dates for the beautiful and the generous at a price.
“I came up with this concept that perhaps if you pay them they might be willing to go out with you,” says the sites founder, Brandon Wade.
Wade founded SeekingArragement.com and SeingMillionaire.com both websites that revolve around what Wade calls “wealthy people seeking beautiful people.”
Users on WhatsYourPrice.com are split into “generous” users and “attractive” users. Each creates a profile, complete with photo, income and net worth.
Generous members (typically males) make offers to attractive members (typically females).
Attractive members can reject or counter offer. Once everyone agrees on a price, the date is on.
“It’s kind of like the cyber way of doing prostitution,” says Jason Escalera of Denver.
“It’s definitely a gold-digger website for girls who are looking for rich guys,” says Andrew Green of Denver.
“I think it's great of you are looking for someone who is all about money and ready to buy you,” says Lindsay Wiseman.
“How could it be prostitution?” Wade says. We try to keep those escorts or people looking for escorts out of the site.”
However, out of the “attractive” users we clicked on most were racy photos of bikini clad girls. Some were hardly dressed at all and many covered their faces.
“It almost sounds like a brothel of women,” says Mitch Joslyn.
WhatsYourPrice.com says they only provide a first date, nothing more.
“If it’s all set up around money, are there expectations that are set up about this date then the expectations set up around a regular date?” says Kea Bardeen.
The site is free for all users. The “generous” users have to pay a fee to the site once a date is arranged.
