I got a phone call from my work home office yesterday. It was "Dee Dee", the payroll administrator saying I had paid one of the fire watch girls over a million dollars. She said it looked like I keyed the job number in place of the pay rate in JD Edwards. Thankfully she caught it before she printed and issued the checks.

Found out this afternoon that the check was actually printed and sent to the job site. The company has an ongoing maintenance crew in the paper mill where we also do the shutdowns. The check recipient is local and her boyfriend works for maintenance, so they have their checks sent to the maintenance shop and pick them up there. The time keeper puts the checks in individual envelopes when she gets them and she caught it, but let the girls boyfriend take a picture of the stub and he sent it to my boss.
My boss thought it was funny. He sent me the picture and asked if I was hiring any more fire watches.
I sure am glad I have cool bosses. :whew:

 nice one Belle, happy it turned out ok

on one pay cycle, our entire company got double-paid....it was a software glitch, not human error. My boss said I was the only one in my city to bring it up

Unfortunately, everyone with direct deposit had to lose any extra money that they had spent over and above their normal wage, on the next pay cycle.

The big boss (manager) called Sat. morning. I thought for sure he was going to fire me, but he didn't even mention the "big check".
All he called about was to tell me to stay here in Georgetown SC for the next few weeks instead of working here a week, then going to Calhoun TN for a week, then Canton NC for a week, then back here for the duration of this job.
I'll make lots more money here because we'll work 7 days a week, 12 hours a day and won't miss any time traveling, not to mention what I would spend on gas. I'll have to do the payroll and cost tracking for all three jobs no matter where I am so it works for me!
I love being near the coast any time. Fresh steamed oysters for me tomorrow night!
